Job Summary:

The Business Solutions Analyst position functions within the Ontario Tech IT department and reports to the Manager, ERP Systems and Reporting. The position is responsible for the administration, support, and continuous improvement of the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) including Canvas Catalog, and Banner ERP system.

Key responsibilities include system configuration, data management, reporting, and user support across platforms. The Business Solutions Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams including the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC), DC-ITS, functional departments, and vendors to implement enhancements, support business processes, and enable data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with enterprise systems such as Banner and Canvas LMS, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities/accountabilities:

  • Manage and audit user permissions and role configurations across systems to ensure appropriate access and security
  • Administer, configure, and support Banner ERP and Canvas LMS (including Canvas Catalog) to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Create, assign, and maintain course structures, enrollments, and related LMS components
  • Provide functional and technical support to end users across the university community
  • Support system integrations between Banner, LMS, and other enterprise applications
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and implement system enhancements and process improvements
  • Test system updates, configurations, and enhancements to ensure accuracy and minimize disruption
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system configuration, data integrity, integrations, and user experience
  • Stay current on system features and functionality by reviewing release notes and engaging with vendors
  • Coordinate with vendors to support system performance, upgrades, and issue resolution
  • Oversee the implementation of system updates, patches, and integrated tools
  • Monitor system usage and performance metrics, and provide insights to improve adoption and effectiveness
  • Contribute to documentation, training materials, and knowledge sharing across teams
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and improved user experience

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Required Education:

  • Completion of a university program consisting of four academic careers
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered
  • Verification of Academic credentials may be required

Required Experience:

  • Over three years experience supporting enterprise systems such as Banner ERP and/or Canvas LMS
