The Ministry of Community Safety is seeking a highly motivated team player to serve as the Provincial Protective Services (PPS) Branch Law Enforcement Technology Supervisor. Reporting to the Manager of Law Enforcement Technology, you will be part of a team providing specialized IT leadership and operational support for law enforcement technologies across the PPS Branch.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and innovative professional with extensive experience in law enforcement IT systems, mobile technologies, integrated mobile office environments, multi-agency system integration, data analytics, and emerging enforcement technologies.
In this position, you will:
Supervise and provide technical direction to Law Enforcement Technicians supporting Provincial Protective Services operational technology needs.
Monitor and evaluate team performance and provide coaching and feedback as necessary.
Lead long-term strategic and operational IT planning, including lifecycle management, capital forecasting, system modernization initiatives, and evaluation of emerging technologies.
Provide project management for innovation and modernization projects including research, development of proposals, field demonstrations, testing, evaluation, reporting, and implementation.
Develop policies, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials to support frontline enforcement technology use.
Implement, support, train, and monitor new software versions, hardware deployments, and system upgrades across PPS agencies.
Oversee deployment, integration, and lifecycle management of the PPS Mobile Office environment, including in-car camera systems, body-worn cameras, ALPR technology, driver’s license scanners, in-vehicle printers, officer cellular devices, mobile connectivity infrastructure, digital evidence management systems including in car and body worn camera technology and associated hardware.
Administer inventory management processes for PPS technology assets using inventory management systems, ensuring accurate asset tracking, lifecycle documentation, and accountability of mobile and enforcement equipment.
Provide leadership and operational oversight for the PPS Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) program, including technology evaluation, procurement coordination, development of Standard Operating Procedures, regulatory compliance support, development and delivery of training to officers, and technical guidance for field deployments.
Manage and administer the PPS IT ticketing system, including tracking service requests, monitoring response times, analyzing trends, and preparing operational and performance reports using data analytics tools such as Power BI to support decision-making and resource planning.
Act as Service Level Approver for Government of Saskatchewan (GOS) service requests within PPS, reviewing, authorizing, and prioritizing departmental IT and technology-related submissions in accordance with established governance processes.

Provide tier-1 (walk-through), tier-2 (remote log-in), and escalation-level troubleshooting support to field staff for mission-critical law enforcement hardware and software systems within the Mobile Office environment.
Coordinate with partner agencies and stakeholders including SGI, PECC, SPSA, ITD, and external vendors to ensure system integration, compliance, and operational reliability.
Develop and maintain long-term strategic working relationships with other law enforcement agencies and technology partners across jurisdictions.
Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through a degree in Computer Science supplemented with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Previous experience and knowledge of the following software programs, technologies and certifications is considered an asset:
- Records Management Systems
- Computer-Aided Dispatch software
- Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems
- Genetec Security Desk (ALPR backend system)
- Mobile Desktop solutions
- Modem cloud management platforms (NetCloud Manager, AirVantage)
- Starlink mobile connectivity solutions
- Inventory management systems (e.g., Fishbowl)
- RPAS platforms
- Electronic Ticketing (E-Ticketing) systems
- Data Analytics and Reporting software
- Transport Canada Advanced RPAS Pilot Certification
Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through a degree in Computer Science or Data Science supplemented with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain enhanced fingerprint clearance. This check is a more in‑depth level of clearance than a normal criminal record check.
