Job Purpose
Reporting to the Supervisor, Technical Services, the Gaming Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all casinos gaming and gaming related equipment to ensure that integrity is maintained. The incumbent is also responsible for gaming device software upgrades, equipment moves, conversions, installations and providing support for slot investigations.
Job Responsibilities
-
Complete all Strategic Gaming, First Nations and Corporate initiatives as related to all gaming equipment that fall under the scope of the Technical Services department.

Complete configuration changes to enhance the functionality of existing gaming hardware & equipment when required.
-
Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety & Health standards by securely installing gaming machines to prevent potential tipping and falling hazards on all gaming bank set ups.
-
Complete projects such as software upgrades, machine moves, theme and denomination conversions, pay table changes, machine and new equipment installation, bill validator (BV) upgrades, customer notification (CN) upgrades, programming Advantage equipment, installation and removal of COMM lines, ethernet cabling, machine stabilizing for top heavy machines overhead signage mounts bank toper displays, accent lighting, machine mounts and anchors, base replacements, and player tracking/slot accounting hardware systems, as well as the removal of the machines, and security locks, pinning locks, etc.

Configure networks as it relates to gaming and gaming related equipment.

Install, relocate, and remove overhead progressive signage, displays and equipment.
-
Test electronic hardware such as: progressive controller systems, bank controllers, slot tournament equipment, graphic displays, accent lighting, connectivity with servers (Bingo, Stadium Gaming, NRT systems, media displays), etc.
-
Collaborate with vendors to facilitate the installation, removal and conversion of leased machines, in addition to their associated signage, displays, controllers, dividers and sound chairs.
-
Engage in effective communication, coordination, and planning with other departments during the implementation of projects.
-
Prepare slot machine and equipment (wiring, alarm switches, assembly of toppers when required, install accounting hardware, etc.), communication protocols, progressive increment testing as well as full phase II communication testing in accordance with MBLL, GLI/BMM/other third-party testers, and Liquor Gaming and Cannabis Authority (LGCA) standards requirements, policies and procedures.

Install, maintain & update operating systems and application software on applicable gaming related equipment (such as NRT’s).
-
Set up shufflers for Table Games, which includes configuring deck settings, game settings, as well as performing quality assurance testing on shufflers.
-
Set up, program, and test roulette table equipment including the wheel, reader, sign, and chipper champ.
-
Set up and test the tables wide area progressive (connected to both casinos).
-
Set up, program, and test tables/electronic tables hybrid which includes both the live and automated tables, connectivity between the tables and terminals, camera feeds for the tables, overhead displays, etc.
-
Respond to operational service calls related to all casino gaming, gaming equipment, Liquor Mart money counting equipment, including but not limited to, slot machines, multiplayer electronic live table games, bank and countroom equipment.

Research, repair, update, calibrate, parts sourcingand maintain non-consumable and gaming related equipment via bench repair in the Technical Services work rooms and at Central Services.
-
Research, test, and complete bench repairs.
-
Complete the daily work orders, repair logs, and slot machine entry cards as required.
-
Work with Technical Security Specialists, Electronic Gaming Management, jurisdictional regulators and gaming vendors on machine audits, repairs, integrity checks, and investigations.
-
Assist with jackpot verifications on slot, electronic bingo, and electronic table game wins and conduct software and hardware signature verifications on slot wins over specified dollar amounts while removing and reapplying critical security seals.
-
Troubleshoot, conduct technical diagnostics and perform repairs as necessary to ensure proper functionality of gaming equipment.

Provide site & technical support to First Nations Casinos and VLD as required.
-
Perform RAM clears, reconfiguration and testing of slot machines.
-
Assist with network outages as it relates to gaming and gaming related equipment (rebooting of routers, switches).
-
Investigate and address finance reports related to discrepancies in drop, progressive amounts, unregistered machines, orphaned cans, zero meters, and other issues pertaining to machine accounting, communication, and player/point tracking systems.
-
Repair, calibrate, and maintain bill counting equipment for Liquor Marts as scheduled and on demand.
-
Diagnose parts and components required for repairs, monitor inventory levels and place orders for parts to ensure adequate equipment and supplies are maintained.

Receiving of parts and equipment from suppliers and vendors at Central Services both for MBLL and First Nations. Shipping and receiving of parts between Central Services, MSC, CRC and SCGC. Reconciling of parts between all four MBLL properties.

Complete preventative maintenance and critical math verification related to all casino gaming, gaming equipment, Liquor Mart money counting equipment, including but not limited to slot machines, multiplayer electronic live table games, bank and count room equipment.

Perform machine configuration audit on slot machines to ensure they are set up properly.
-
Maintain comprehensive work orders and logs that contain detailed information on the work completed, equipment serviced, and any pertinent observations made during maintenance.
-
Research product information, which includes retrieving product schematics, documentation, and detailed guides from suppliers.
-
Participate in training courses to receive the most accurate and up-to-date product information to provide top-quality preventive maintenance services.
-
Ensure proper handling, use and storage of hazardous chemicals utilized for maintenance.
-
Other related duties as assigned.
Primary Qualifications
-
Completion of a recognized degree, diploma, or certificate program in electronics or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
-
A minimum of one (1) year experience in electronics and/or a technical support role.
-
Province of Manitoba Class I or MT electrical license is required.
-
Have and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License.
-
Understanding of electrical systems and circuitry, including the ability to read schematics and diagrams, diagnose electrical issues, and perform basic electrical repairs.

Excellent customer service skills and verbal communication skills.

Experience and proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook).

Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Continuous learning and training to keep up to date with new technologies in the gaming industry.

Knowledge of software testing, hardware testing, best practices, and methodologies is required.

Understanding of networking fundamentals is required.

Strong electronics and mechanical troubleshooting skills are necessary as well as the ability to think outside the box when dealing with non-conventional issues.
