PROFILE
We are looking for a Billing Coordinator to join our team. Working in a team environment our Billing Coordinator will perform a variety of clerical and accounting tasks, following standardized billing policies and procedures.The successful candidate will bring excellent attention to detail, strong prioritization skills, and professionalism to the role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare pre-bills and bills, obtain copies of bills upon request, and make corrections to time entries and fee allocations where necessary;
- Ensure compliance with client guidelines, required bill format, and content;
- Maintain billing progress reports throughout the month;
- Accurate data entry, correct errors and proofread, checking style and authorization when required;
- Be available to answer questions and provide support to assistants and professionals regarding the billing process;
- Liaise with internal and external clients to address any issues, answer queries, and interpret policies and procedures;
- Provide, prepare and format reports in MS Excel;
- Participate in office/firm related training sessions, and innovation initiatives;
- Complete administrative duties including but not limited to filing, copying, and correspondence;
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Three to five years of billing experience with preference given to experience in a law firm environment;
- Bilingualism (verbal/written) in English/French;
- Strong working knowledge of basic accounting principles;
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
- Experience with Aderant and Expert Billing is an asset;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to set priorities while dealing with conflicting and emerging priorities;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff, professionals, and in a team environment;
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and bank procedures;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment;
- Ability to work flexible hours as workload requires including some evenings and weekends. This is required during the year end process.

The starting range for this role is $49,000 to $74,100. Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.
