About the role

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Leads and facilitates Kaizen events and other Lean initiatives aimed at improving process flow, eliminating waste, and enhancing productivity across the manufacturing floor
  • Conducts regular assessments of manufacturing processes, identifies areas for improvement, and implements solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Utilizes data-driven approaches to assess performance metrics, identify trends, and develop actionable insights for process improvement
  • Provides training and guidance to team members on Lean principles, Kaizen and/or Toyota Production System (TPS) methodologies, and best practices for continuous improvement
  • Works closely with manufacturing, engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless integration of continuous improvement strategies
  • Leads problem-solving activities, utilizing tools like the 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and FMEA to identify and eliminate root causes of issues
  • Ensures that all improvements align with safety and quality standards, and promote a culture of safety and quality consciousness across the organization
  • Oversees and manages continuous improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring that they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • Post Secondary Education in Engineering, Industrial Management, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred
  • Three (3) years’ continuous improvement or process improvement roles within an automotive manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Kaizen and/or TPS methodology, or Six Sigma required
  • Proven track record of leading and implementing successful Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects required
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems, quality management systems, and process control tools required
  • Project management experience and ability to work across multiple departments required
  • Ability to think critically, analyze data, and solve complex problems required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate others required
  • Proficient using the Microsoft Suite of products, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

  • Ability to use structured problem-solving techniques to address operational issues
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in utilizing data analysis tools to make informed decisions and track performance metrics
  • Strong ability to work in a team-oriented environment and drive cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to effectively manage change and encourage continuous improvement across the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present findings and recommendations effectively to all levels of the organization
  • Strong understanding of safety standards, quality control processes, and regulatory requirements

Experience

Preferred

  • 3 year(s): Three (3) years’ experience within an automotive manufacturing environment
  • 3 year(s): Three (3) years’ continuous improvement or process improvement experience
