POSITION OVERVIEW
At BDC, the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, we support the growth of small and medium‑sized businesses across Canada. As a Senior Commercial Account Manager, you will partner with entrepreneurs in the Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Mission areas, delivering customized financing and advisory solutions. Your work contributes directly to the success and long‑term growth of local businesses with annual sales of up to $50M. CHALLENGES TO BE MET
- Develop and execute a business development action plan aligned with Business Centre objectives to grow and retain a portfolio of commercial clients.
- Build and maintain a self‑sourced, sustainable pipeline through proactive prospecting and relationship management.
- Establish trusted relationships within the local business community, including entrepreneurs, professional advisors, associations, and chambers of commerce.
- Represent BDC as a financing and advisory partner by actively participating in networking and community events.
- Analyze financial information and apply sound credit judgment to structure, negotiate, and present financing proposals that meet both client needs and BDC risk requirements.
- Collaborate with internal partners to deliver integrated financing and advisory solutions that support business growth.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of client‑facing experience in commercial banking or commercial lending.
- Demonstrated experience in business development, including prospecting, pipeline management, and client acquisition.
- Experience managing a portfolio of commercial clients and delivering financing solutions.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including credit analysis and financial statement interpretation.
- Proven ability to prepare, structure, and negotiate commercial financing proposals.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship‑building skills with business owners and senior decision makers.
- Ability to manage multiple client files and priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle.
- Established professional network in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, or Mission, BC.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) with revenues up to $50M.
- Existing referral relationships with accountants, lawyers, business brokers, or other professional advisors.
- Experience participating in local business associations or chambers of commerce.
- Advanced negotiation experience with senior business stakeholders.
