Position Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Ross Memorial Mental Health Day Hospital will function as a member of the interdisciplinary team, with supporting complex clinical cases responsible for assessing and evaluating the biopsychosocial and emotional factors salient to assigned cases; developing patient care treatment plans; developing, implementing, participating and evaluating the Day hospital component of the Mental Health Program; providing crisis intervention; providing case follow-up; participating in team conferences, staff meetings and professional development activities; and performing others duties as required. The position supports the Mental Health Mobile Crisis Response Unit (MH MCRU) collaborating with two police services (City Kawartha Lakes and Ontario Provincial Police). The Registered Nurse is involved with cases that are complex and present with potentially highly volatile clinical situations (such as individuals at risk of harm to self or others, experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, and/or struggling with substance use). The treatment provided is safe, effective and evidence based and is tailored to the individualized needs of the client and/or family.
The Mental Health Day Program is currently looking for a Permanent Part-time Registered Nurse to join their healthcare team.

Essential Qualifications
- Registered nurse current Certificate of Registration College of Nurses of Ontario
- Non Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
- BCLS certificate, on hire
- Minimum five (5) years related psychiatric experience working with Seriously Mentally Ill individuals in an inpatient or outpatient setting
- Excellent and comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment skills
- Experience in Crisis Intervention techniques
- Excellent knowledge of psychopharmacologic treatment and protocols
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills
- Knowledge of community resources and referral protocols for consumers and family members an asset
- Skilled at verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques
- Knowledge of the consultation/liaison model of care delivery
- Experience in individual/group counselling
- Excellent listening/communication skills
- Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis
- Epic trained or ability to train and pass testing
Preferred Qualifications
- B.Sc.N.
Hours of Work
Must be available to work eight (8) an twelve (12) hour shifts, days and evenings, Monday to Sunday. Shifts and hours may change according to patient/program requirements and as per the ONA Collective Agreement.
