Who are we?

XNRGY Climate Systems is a North American leader in sustainable design and advanced manufacturing of custom air handling systems, focused on research and energy development to help reduce the carbon footprint. XNRGY is currently seeking a Commercial Controller to join its team located in St-Hubert. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the selected candidate will support the financial leadership team.

An idea of your responsibilities:

The Commercial Controller oversees the entire sales cycle, from the quotation process to cash collection. This role is central to structuring the Order-to-Cash cycle, analyzing commercial performance, ensuring pipeline reliability, and coordinating between commercial, technical, industrial, and financial teams. In a high-growth environment, the Commercial Controller helps implement tools, processes, and an internal control framework while managing the accounts receivable and credit management team. The goal is to reduce commercial risks, ensure data reliability, improve cash collection, and industrialize the Order-to-Cash cycle in a rapidly growing environment.

Main Responsibilities:

Sales Cycle Supervision

  • Oversee the quotation process (including bids), analyzing quotes, margin consistency, and approval tracking.
  • Act as liaison between the sales team, engineering, and the plant to validate Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Monitor and analyze the commercial pipeline and backlog, ensuring data integrity and forecast reliability.
  • Serve as the interface between Sales, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Plant teams to synchronize information and commitments.

Customer Orders and Execu tion

  • Control order entry in the ERP system and ensure compliance with signed contracts. Verify consistency between: customer contract, order, technical changes, milestones, and invoicing.
  • Track project execution: milestones, deadlines, scope changes, deliveries.
  • Supervise invoicing, disputes, cash collection, and AR data quality.
  • Analyze average collection period (DSO), aging, disputes, customer deposits, and forecast cash inflows based on milestones.
  • Assess customer collection risks.
  • Monitor and validate sales commissions.

Reporting, Analysis, and Forecasting

  • Produce dashboards and regular analyses by client, region, segment, and product.
  • Track commercial and operational KPIs (margins, pipeline/backlog conversion, timelines, performance).
  • Participate in monthly forecasts for sales, backlog, and cash-in.
  • Analyze forecast vs. actual variances in collaboration with sales teams.

Contract Analysis & Commercial Governance

  • Analyze new contracts to identify potential accounting impacts.
  • Monitor high-risk contractual conditions.
  • Implement a standard contract review process, including: financial clauses, incoterms, milestones, retention, penalties(LDs).
  • Ensure commercial compliance in ERP/CRM.
  • Monitor tax obligations (Canada & USA): sales taxes, exemptions, certificates, documentation, in collaboration with tax adv isors.

Commercial Data Governance

  • Responsible for commercial data in ERP/CRM: customers, projects, BOM, and quotes.
  • Implement data governance: data cleaning, consistency checks, pipeline integrity.
  • Improve master data quality, reduce errors, and standardize practices.

Tools, Systems, and Continuous Imp rovement

  • Be a builder profile, able to structure, automate, and optimize tools and processes in a hyper-growth environment.
  • Collaborate with IT/ERP/CRM teams on functional improvements, workflows, dashboards, and automation.
  • Contribute to establishing a robust and agile internal control environment adapted to rapid growth.

Management and Leadership

  • Supervise the accounts receivable and credit management team (billing, collections, credit, dispute management, monthly closing, customer relations).
  • Participate in deploying credit insurance and factoring programs.

Technical Skills

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in commercial controlling, business controlling, FP&A sales, or industrial finance.
  • Understanding of the full Order-to-Cash cycle and its operational and financial impact.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor, BC365, SAP, etc.) and CRM.
  • Interest in automation and analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards, particularly IFRS 15 / US GAAP revenue recognition (an asset).
  • Knowledge of Canadian/US sales taxes (an asset).
  • Fluency in French and English required.
