Bring your excellent organizational and communication skills to our team as an Inspector within our Facility Inspection Program (FIP) department.
The FIP department coordinates inspections of dental offices that administer sedation and/or general anesthesia and take dental CT scans. The team reviews and processes applications and annual renewals for permits and authorizations required to offer and administer dental sedation services, and prescribe, order and take dental CT scans.
You will be responsible for inspecting dental facilities and records for the Facility Inspection Program department to assess adherence to the College’s Standards, Guidelines and By-laws, with the goal of protecting the public.
You are an experienced healthcare professional with demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail, who understands the role of the regulator in supporting safe, quality oral healthcare. You are an effective communicator with the ability to be impartial and demonstrate good judgment while working autonomously.
This single vacancy is anticipated to be a 12-month contract. Practice inspections are mostly conducted virtually, however, some travel for site visits may be required. At this time, we are only considering candidates located in Ontario or who are willing to relocate.
What can I expect to do in this role?
Reporting to the Manager, FIP, you will:
· Arrange and complete inspections and practice visits, as required by the Facility Inspection Program (may require travel for site visits)
· Analyze dental charts and records to assess delivery of patient care and compliance with College Standards, Guidelines and By-laws
· Provide educational feedback to registrants
Maintain electronic records in accordance with College policies and legislated requirements, including Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
What skills and background do I need?
The Inspector requires:
· Registered nurse, respiratory therapist or registered practical nurse in good standing with their regulatory body
· Experience working as part of a sedation/anesthesia team, including comprehensive knowledge of sedation equipment and emergency drugs, patient monitoring requirements and recordkeeping
· Familiarity with electronic dental recordkeeping and software systems, an asset
· Understanding of privacy and confidentiality obligations in regulation and healthcare, including Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
· Superior attention to detail
· High emotional intelligence and ability to maintain objectivity
· Proficient oral and written communication skills
· Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate sound judgment
· Proficient in using Microsoft 365 apps
· RCDSO is building its bilingual (French/English) capacity and excellent French language proficiency is an asset
Compensation and Total Rewards
· Base annual hiring salary from $102,317 to $115,106 (pro-rated for the duration of the contract) , commensurate with experience
· Comprehensive extended health benefits package (excluding the Pension Plan and Long-Term Disability Plan)
, paid vacation, wellness and sick days (prorated for the duration of the contract)
