##Scope
We are looking to add to our team of passionate, knowledgeable, and innovative professionals, a Survey Assistant, who will perform field work under direct supervision, assisting with obtaining field data for City survey projects and programs.
##Responsibilities
- Assist survey crews in carrying out field surveys including legal surveys, pre-construction, construction, and as-constructed surveys for City infrastructure projects.
- Support topographic, mapping, layout, and monitoring surveys by helping collect measurements and spatial data in the field.
- Perform manual labour to clear foliage, debris, and sight lines and expose underground survey evidence and utilities to facilitate measurements.
- Use survey instruments, measuring devices, and hand tools under supervision to support data collection.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining field notes, records, and files.
- Perform basic survey calculations as required.
- Provide courteous responses to routine inquiries from members of the public.
- Assist with basic cleaning, handling, and maintenance of survey equipment.
- Support other survey crew members in performing field tasks.
- Drive a City vehicle to and from job sites when required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
##Qualifications
- Completion of grade 12 and some related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Valid BC Driver's License with a safe driving record.
