POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager will provide leadership and co-ordination of all Warehouse, Shipping and Receiving functions and activities to meet safety, quality, delivery and cost targets. Responsibilities also include:

  • Oversee and manage shipping, receiving and warehouse distribution operations and daily activities
  • Coordinating labour, equipment and space requirements
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow
  • Ensure the quality/accuracy of shipping and receiving documentation complies with all legislative and internal company requirements
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Quality policies and procedures, including warehouse racking
  • Ensure that each shift is adequately staffed to meet work requirements
  • Manage and report on absences, overtime, personnel transitions and vacation schedules
  • Provide training, coaching and counseling for staff
  • Organize shipments with other company locations and schedule runs for drivers
  • Provide shipping quotes for Estimating and Sales departments
  • Keep records of all vehicles and authorize equipment repairs
  • Manage carriers and coordinate customs documentation with brokers
  • Investigate carrier errors and authorize credits and reshipments to customers
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products
  • Provide back up for shipping, receiving, picking and packing
  • Assist in the development of work instructions and quality plans
  • Keep up-to-date with new and changing requirements for shipping documentation

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of Secondary education diploma/equivalent, required; Post Secondary education, preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced, high-volume Warehouse and Shipping environment
  • Experience with standard warehousing and shipping procedures and practices
  • Familiarity with inventory control processes and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Experience with ShipHero or other fulfillment technology platforms considered a strong asset
  • Experience with 3PL is a strong asset
  • Full knowledge of Health and Safety regulations

SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Intermediate level: Outlook, Word, Excel and Inventory/Warehouse systems software
  • Familiar with inventory control processes and all aspects of warehouse operation
  • Highly organized with the ability to coordinate a wide variety of duties and responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be a team player and possess excellent leadership, team building skills and supervisory skills
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills
  • Ability to determine priorities, make decisions, and handle stressful situations with tact and control
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and provide appropriate solutions
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal preferred
