Position Overview

Aligned with the mission and values of Hawkesbury General Hospital, the Clinical Manager is accountable for the application and maintenance of high standards in perioperative services through the application of policies, procedures and standards governing these various areas, and ensures that the internal controls in place remain appropriate.

The Clinical Manager combines clinical and administrative knowledge and experience to mobilize resources for continuous improvement in quality of care and patient experience. He/she ensures that the daily actions of his/her team are guided by values of compassion, excellence and innovation. He/she works to achieve organizational strategic objectives using best practices and research evidence.

The Clinical Manager assumes a leadership role in promoting quality of care, patient experience and change. He/she facilitates and promotes innovation within his/her team. As part of his/her duties, he/she works closely with all team members (various healthcare professionals, support staff, professional practice, etc.) to improve or develop new models of care and service.

The Clinical Manager creates an environment that fosters teamwork, mutual support, a healthy work environment, an innovative spirit and a commitment to the organization's infection control standards and protocols. The incumbent uses research- and evidence-based practices to improve processes and to train staff. The incumbent works in a safe manner, in compliance with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and reports any danger to the health or safety of staff, patients and visitors.

Criminal Check

As a pre-condition of employment:

  • All new HGH employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Police Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

  • As of now, HGH will require all employees, physicians, learners, contractors and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's in nursing
  • Master's degree in Health or Administration (an asset)
  • Active member of ONA and RNAO
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent experience as a nurse in an operating room.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a management role
  • Advanced knowledge of the following areas: OR services, endoscopy, recovery room and reprocessing of medical equipment;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with users, suppliers, employees and partners;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities;
  • Excellent employee management skills, demonstrating tact and professionalism.
  • Demonstrates ability to apply hospital policies and procedures, collective agreements, Canadian hospital accreditation standards and Ontario standards of professional discipline.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with computerized systems.
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English.
