Safety Team Lead

Overview

Canadian Kraft Paper is seeking a Safety Team Lead to uphold the highest occupational health and safety standards while fostering a culture where safety is embraced as a shared responsibility. This role is key to advancing our safety strategy, overseeing Plant Protection operations, and ensuring compliance with provincial regulations and industry best practices.

The successful candidate will bring technical expertise, strong leadership, and a passion for continuous improvement—helping us safeguard the wellbeing of every employee and contractor while cultivating a culture where safety is embraced as par of everyday work.

Responsibilities

Lead and promote a proactive safety culture across all departments.

Oversee CKP’s Safety & Health Program, ensuring compliance with all Workplace Safety & Health regulations.

Manage the Plant Protection Department, including first aid attendants and emergency response operations.

Coordinate safety audits, inspections, and training (First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Made Safe, etc.).

Provide leadership in incident investigations, risk management, and corrective actions.

Serve as the primary contact for fire protection, insurance fire system inspections, and government safety agencies.

Develop and deliver safety orientations and training for all employees and contractors.

Support leadership teams with effective communication, reporting, and coaching on safety practices.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.

CRSP designation (or equivalent) preferred.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial setting involving safety, health, and loss prevention.

Supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing or pulp and paper is an asset.

Strong communication, organizational, and coaching skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions under pressure.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer maintenance management systems (CMMS).
