FINANCE ANALYST

We are accepting applications for the following Non-Union 1.0FTE permanent Finance Analyst at the Education Centre in Seaforth, Ontario.

Hours of Work: 35hours per week

Compensation Package Details:

Rate of Pay: $74,297-$86,522per Level 5in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Non-Union, Management, Administrative and Supervisory Employees

Summary: Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the successful candidate will support the Financial Services Management Team in all aspects of financial reporting including month-end close, budget development, and the year-end audit.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation, maintenance and distribution of meaningful financial analysis reports to schools and departments.
  • Prepare and review journal entries to support month-end, 7-month, and year-end reporting.
  • Monitor cash balances and perform regular cash flow projections.
  • Assist with budget development including preparation of salary and benefit calculations.
  • Process regular payroll bank uploads and Government payroll remittances along with the review of payroll import files.
  • Accounting for deferred leave plans including tracking and recording payroll deductions, transfers between accounts, journal entries, monthly reconciliations, account setup and closure, leave calculations, and issuance of T5s.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and other reporting as required.
  • Assist in the completion of schedules in the Education Finance Information System (EFIS)
  • Participate in special projects and educational opportunities to facilitate continuous improvement and learning.
  • Other requirements that may arise as the needs of the Board change and as directed by the Senior Finance Manager.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent
  • Seeking to begin or actively working towards the completion of Professional Accounting Designation (i.e. CPA)
  • Understanding of accounting principles and financial statements, along with three years' accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. co-op placements, academic projects, internships, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
