As the Director of Investor Relations, you will be the vital link between Northland and external stakeholders, including investors and analysts, on financial and operational matters. You will be a trusted advisor to Northland’s senior leaders, regularly partnering with a wide range of internal stakeholders including capital markets, legal, communications, and public affairs to maximize awareness and understanding of the Company’s value proposition. In this role, you will proactively lead the planning and execution of Northland’s investor relations platform.
This role will be based in our Toronto Head Office. Additionally, this role will be 4 days in office per week, with one flexible day available for employees to work from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the shareholder contact, building relationships with members of the investment community including analysts, bankers, institutional sales desks, retail investors and proxy firms.
- Work closely with the CEO, CFO, VP Financial Planning & Analysis and SVP of Capital Markets team to create an annual investor relations strategy, and corresponding annual IR scorecard, including all analyst coverage, investor meetings, and targets.
- Design and manage a multi-year investor relations plan, the delivery of all key initiatives, and a roadmap to achieving and maintaining full valuation of Northland for investors.
- Create succinct and highly insightful quarterly reporting to the Management Committee and Board of Directors, including all investor relations KPI progress, market insight, and opportunities to improve the long-term value of Northland.
- Ensure all external presentations, the IR section of the Northland website, and investor and equity analyst communications are planned, and managed effectively on a day-to-day basis.
- Proactively convey company updates using a variety of communication mediums that adhere to current disclosure requirements and answer inquiries in a responsive, professional, and timely manner.
- Prepare periodic or ad-hoc reporting on Northland and peers’ market activities for the CEO and CFO
- Plan and organize investor day, roadshows and identify appropriate industry and financial events that would benefit from senior management team attendance.
- Support the financial reporting team by providing reviews and guidance on relevant event disclosures and assessment of key financial metrics.
- Participate as a member of the Disclosure Committee and be involved in MD&A and Financial Statement disclosure discussions with senior management.
- Work with the legal and communications teams for the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders including monitoring proxy status and any required shareholder engagement.

- Detail-oriented: You have demonstrated experience of being hands-on enough to understand the details but can also employ such details to provide business analysis and insight to the CFO to support/inform key business decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 7 years prior experience in power, infrastructure, development or similar business preferred.
- Strong business acumen to articulate and understand how investors may evaluate Northland’s activities.
- Experience in equity research and banking.
- Understanding economics, capital markets, and applied investment and valuation methodologies used by the investment community.
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, engineering, or related field; CPA, CFA, or other advanced designations considered an asset.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with financial modeling.
