Uniboard is currently seeking a Cost Analyst for its head office in Laval or its plant in Sayabec.
Your day-to-day:
Reporting to the Director of Management Accounting, the Cost Analyst plays a key role in understanding the performance of our plants. Leveraging their expertise, the analyst ensures the development and monitoring of various internal controls. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Actively participate in the monthly closing process and the annual budgeting process
- Analyze and explain labor variances within the plants
- Monitor spare parts inventory and support managers in determining which parts to stock and appropriate quantities
- Conduct in-depth reviews of production orders to identify cost optimization opportunities and improve operational efficiency
- Provide strategic recommendations to optimize processes, reduce costs, and maximize profitability
- Actively participate in the development of standard costs
- Prepare plant KPIs for management
- Present monthly plant results clearly and effectively to senior management, highlighting trends, challenges, and opportunities
The essentials:
- University degree in Accounting
- CPA designation (an asset)
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in cost analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with complex data
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and persuasively
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Knowledge of an ERP system; SAP is an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- A functional knowledge of French is considered an asset, as the role requires interacting with French-speaking stakeholders and occasionally consulting documentation in French
