FOR THE FOLLOWING TEACHING POSITION
One (1) Temporary Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Student Success Literacy / Numeracy Coach Grade 7 – 8
Location: Bluewater District School Board Education Centre, Chesley
Commencing: As soon as possible until February 27, 2026. Contract dates are subject to change if incumbent returns or circumstances change.
Supervisor: Sara Morrow, Learning Services Program Administrator - Program
Position Summary:
This role will involve guiding professional development initiatives, fostering collaboration, and building instructional capacity within schools. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of effective teaching strategies, a passion for continuous improvement, and a collaborative approach to professional learning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Grade 7 and 8 teachers, including mentoring, coaching, co-planning, co-teaching and support to implement effective mathematics and literacy programs;
- Provide and facilitate professional learning regarding effective instruction and assessment practices in literacy and mathematics;
- Working with administrator and teacher teams, in meetings and in classrooms: modeling/demonstrating high impact instructional strategies and assessment practices, differentiation of instruction and assessment, and facilitating professional dialogue for groups of teachers, with emphasis on teacher inquiry learning;
- Engage in professional learning with Student Success, Student Support, and Program staff; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers;
- Intermediate qualifications required.
Assets:
- Special Education qualification preferred;
- Mathematics additional qualification(s) preferred;
- Current/previous experience in a school-based leadership role;
- Experience implementing culturally responsive and relevant pedagogy;
- A commitment to the K-12 learning continuum;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills;
- A sound philosophy of education and strong working knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum, Growing Success, Learning for All, and the School Effectiveness Framework;
- An understanding of high impact teaching, learning, and assessment strategies;
- Ability to integrate current technology into instructional leadership and classroom practice; and
- Experience teaching Grades 7 and 8 with direct experience supporting student transitions to secondary school.

- Valid driver’s license
- Access to a reliable vehicle
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Clean vulnerable sector police check
