**Position Title:**York Region Summer Camp- Counsellor

**Reports to:**Site Director

**Job Type:**Summer Contract (up to 37.5 hours for 7 weeks)

**Location:**Richmond Hill, ON

Rate:$18.00 to $19.00per hour based on experience and qualifications

Variety programming empowers children with disabilities to be seen, participate, and feel included. We bring accessible facilities to life with sports, fitness, activities, summer camps, skills training, and coaching for competitive and Paralympic athletes. Through local partnerships, we extend our reach through accessibility training and education. Variety Ontario is proud to continue to partner with Autism Ontario to provide another successful summer of camp programming in York Region.

Summary:

Variety Ontario is currently seeking a Camp Counsellors for the Variety York Region summer camps. We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to deliver an inclusive day camp program throughout the summer months. Camp Counsellors provide one-to-one support to participants, assisting them through all aspects of their daily camp experience to ensure a safe, engaging, and positive environment.

####Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-Responsible for the care, safety, and personal belongings of the camper assigned each week.

  • Follow daily camp schedules, making appropriate modifications to meet individual camper needs.
  • Rotate on a weekly or bi-weekly basis between different campers and program rooms as required.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment with peers supporting campers within the same age group.
  • Contribute as part of a team to support all campers within a designated age group.
  • Follow all behavioural, medical, sensory, and communication plans to ensure camper safety and well-being.
  • Utilize Behaviour Management Systems strategies as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall camp operations.

Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  • Experience in adapted physical education and instruction.
  • Valid CPR-C, First Aid, and AED certification is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Responsible, dependable, punctual, and reliable.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a positive, proactive approach to work.
  • Creative, flexible, and able to think quickly in dynamic environments.
  • Comfortable working with individuals of all abilities; previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities is an asset.
  • Participation in company training, including CPI and Plan to Protect.
