About the role
The main responsibilities of the Central Hotel Accountant are to ensure the integrity and timeliness of daily and monthly Accounting Information for the assigned properties, provide support and training for hotel associates and General Managers as well as ensuring property wide compliance with all Federal, State, Provincial and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Produce the month end financial statements and reports on a timely and accurate basis

Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations

Prepare bank reconciliations on a regular basis (daily, weekly, monthly)

Perform financial statement analysis

Assimilate complex information, data etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need

Work with and understand financial information and data, and test its accuracy

Have an excellent knowledge of all functions of the Accounts Receivable, Credit Policy, Accounts Payable, General Cashier, Payroll and Income Audit processes

Assist in the collection of accounts receivable when cash flow or the aging dictates
-
Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring his/her attention

Participate in all hotel and departmental meetings as requested
-
Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in hotel accounting or a related field required
- University degree with a focus on Accounting preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and management
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
