Job Description

The Team

The Divisional Capital Management & Reporting team sits within the Corporate Actuarial function in Divisional Business Services (DBS) at Pacific Life Re.

The team is responsible for capital management and consolidated solvency reporting across the Group, covering both the internal Economic Capital (EC) framework and the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) regulatory basis. Our focus is on developing a deep, forward-looking understanding of capital drivers across both bases and translating this into value-adding insight that informs strategy, risk appetite, and decision-making.

The team works closely with the Global Valuation Team, the Protection and S&R Actuarial Analytics & Insights teams, Divisional Finance, Risk, and the Enterprise capital management teams. The role involves regular interaction with actuaries, accountants, systems developers, and risk professionals across multiple jurisdictions including Sydney, Singapore, Bermuda, Toronto, and Newport Beach, California.

The Role

This is a high-impact role at the center of Pacific Life Re’s capital strategy, with significant exposure to senior leadership and enterprise-wide stakeholders across actuarial, finance, and risk.

You will play a central role in shaping how the Pacific Life Re plans, forecasts, deploys, and communicates capital, ensuring that capital frameworks are robust, well-governed, and aligned to our strategic growth objectives. You will manage a consistently busy schedule of capital management activity across the organisation, giving you the opportunity to influence a wide range of workstreams, challenges and strategic decisions from day one.

This role is well suited to someone who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments, enjoys owning end-to-end processes, and excels at converting technical analysis into clear, commercial insight for senior audiences.

Key responsibilities

Deliver High-Quality Capital Insights

Produce and communicate high-quality capital MI for senior leadership, Boards and regulatory submissions. This will cover solvency, ALM, currency exposure, insurance risks, diversification, new business impacts, and drivers of movements; and

Provide expert support to senior leadership, Boards, Risk function and other Enterprise stakeholders on ad hoc matters, including capital impacts of transactions, strategy changes, and regulatory developments.

Shape Process, Governance & Transformation

Strengthen control frameworks (materiality, version control, documentation, operational event logging) across the team;

Own the ongoing development of the Bermuda entity Capital Management Policies; and

Act as Secretary to the PL Re Capital Management Committee (CMC) including agenda setting, paper coordination, governance tracking and minutes.

Lead, Coach & Develop

Manage and mentor analysts, actuaries and managers within the Capital Management and Reporting team, provide coaching, oversight and technical guidance;

Delegate responsibilities effectively and build a high-performing, collaborative team environment; and

Embed a culture of accountability, curiosity, continuous improvement and collaboration.

About you

You will be technically strong, commercially minded, and comfortable operating in ambiguity and under competing priorities. You will excel at bringing teams together, cutting through complexity, and delivering high-quality outputs across a demanding and varied capital management agenda. You will have strong influencing and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, challenge, and explain complex topics clearly and concisely. With frequent exposure to the Chief Actuary and senior leadership, the ability to quickly understand requirements, prioritise effectively, and deliver meaningful results is essential.
