Weritas operates as a programmable infrastructure protocol that digitizes, analyzes, and manages credit-related data and processes in a unified system. Its platform integrates identity, intelligence, tokenized representations, and settlement coordination into a single protocol layer to support transparent and efficient structuring and distribution of credit-linked opportunities. Weritas does not act as a lender, broker, or financial intermediary, but provides enabling technology infrastructure for third-party participants in the ecosystem.

Role Description This is a full-time Lobbyist role based in Ottawa, CANADA, with a hybrid work arrangement that combines on-site engagement with some work-from-home flexibility. The Lobbyist will develop and advance Weritas’s public policy priorities by engaging with government officials, regulatory bodies, industry associations, and civil society organizations. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing legislation and regulatory developments affecting capital markets, financial inclusion, and emerging technologies, and preparing policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy materials. The role involves building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, organizing and attending meetings, hearings, and public forums, and representing Weritas’s perspective in policy dialogues. The Lobbyist will collaborate closely with internal teams to align advocacy strategies with product development, compliance requirements, and the company’s mission to expand financial access.

Qualifications

Strong expertise in lobbying and governmental affairs, with demonstrated experience influencing public policy and regulatory outcomes. Proficiency in government relations and engagement with public institutions, regulators, and legislative bodies. Ability to analyze and interpret legislation and appropriations processes, and assess their impact on financial and technology ecosystems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting policy briefs, position papers, and stakeholder communications. Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, industry groups, and advocacy organizations. Knowledge of financial inclusion, capital markets, and/or fintech, with interest in AI, blockchain, and emerging technologies. Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, Economics, International Relations, or a related field; an advanced degree is an advantage. Experience working in or with government, regulatory agencies, or public interest organizations in Kenya or the broader region is highly beneficial. Strong analytical, negotiation, and strategic planning skills, with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Compensation

Salary Range $75,000 to $120,000 depending on experience.
