About the role

Innovation Saskatchewan is the innovation agency for the Government of Saskatchewan. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology (IT), the IT Summer Student is responsible for providing front-line desktop support to all agency employees at the R+T Parks in Saskatoon and Regina.

This is a hands-on, learning-focused role where you’ll gain exposure to day-to-day IT operations, support projects and work alongside an experienced and supportive IT team.

Primary Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing desktop and end-user technical support.
  • Assisting with a variety of IT projects and initiatives.
  • Creating and maintaining IT documentation, including incident reports.
  • Assisting with the disposal and decommissioning of IT equipment, including desktops, laptops and servers.

What We Want from You

You’re a great fit if you have the following:

  • Currently enrolled, graduating this academic year or are a recent graduate (within the past year) of a full-time academic program in one of the following fields: Computer Systems Technology, IT Support Specialist, IT Network Administrator or Bachelor of Computer Science.
  • Availability to work full-time from early May to late August.
  • Ability to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Strong skills in installing and troubleshooting MS Windows and MS Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of IP-based network configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to comfortably work independently while also collaborating as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, accountability and a willingness to learn.
