About the job

In this role, you will:

  • Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of educational, interpretive, and virtual programs

  • Lead guided tours for public groups, schools, and VIPs, both on-site and virtually

  • Assist with organizing and staffing special events and community outreach activities

  • Conduct research to support new program ideas, exhibits, and digital content

  • Help train, schedule, and support volunteers and student staff

  • Complete administrative tasks like document prep, budget tracking, and cash reconciliation

  • Greet visitors and assist with general site operations, including basic maintenance and occasional travel

Work Locations:

We have two exciting opportunities available:

  • Join us at Fulford Place (March through December), a beautiful historic site in downtown Brockville (287 King Street East, Brockville, ON K6V 1E1).

  • Or be part of the team at the Josiah Henson Museum of African-Canadian History (January through October), a significant cultural landmark in Dresden, Chatham-Kent (29251 Freedom Road, Dresden, ON N0P 1M0).

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

Class G Drivers License

Program and tour delivery

you have:

  • ability to support educational programs, tours, or public events

you are:

  • confident in speaking to groups and engaging diverse audiences, both in person and virtually
  • willing to assist with special events and community outreach initiatives

Communication and research skills

you have:

  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to research topics and create clear, engaging program content
  • interest in history, culture, education, or museum work

Organizational and administrative skills

you have:

  • strong organization and time management to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

you are:

  • comfortable using basic office software (e.g., word, excel) for planning and documentation
  • able to manage routine administrative duties like record keeping and cash handling

Teamwork and collaboration

you are:

  • able to work well as part of a team with staff, volunteers, and students
  • capable of providing guidance or informal training to others
  • professional and welcoming when interacting with the public and partners
