Weyerhaeuser Company is currently accepting applications for a Journeyman Carpenter for our OSB facility located in Edson, AB. We are seeking individuals who are committed to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and a desire to work in a manufacturing facility.

Hourly shift ready rate of pay is $50.58 per hour. The rotation will be four (4) 10-hour shifts.

Key Functions:

• Works with a team of millwrights and electricians to deliver preventative and routine maintenance on plant structures and systems.
• Supports mill by maximizing mill up-time and provides support for facility structures and systems in a safe manner, while contributing to corporate, plant, and departmental goals.
• Maintains all the building structures and systems for the proper functioning of the plant.
• Manufactures and fabricates items when necessary.
• Troubleshoots and repairs minor plumbing concerns.
• Improves, upgrades, and remodels existing building internal structures.
• Implements safe and sound methods to repair and maintain the mill.
• Works closely with other departments as well as outside contractors on multi-phase building projects and remodels.
• Operates a Bobcat, Skid Steer, Forklift, and Manlift as needed.
• Reads and interprets blueprints.
• Constructs buildings including but not limited to concrete work, paving, framing, hanging sheet rock, trim/finish work, painting, and roofing.
• Completes estimates and orders for all necessary materials.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years' experience as a carpenter.
• Journeyman Carpenter certification.
• Experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Basic plumbing and installation understanding.
• Ability to work closely with supervisors and other departments.
• A team player/leader.
• Good communication skills and positive attitude.
• A self-starter with ability to prioritize and complete work in a timely manner when unsupervised.
• Maintains a clean workstation.
• Exhibits good performance, safety, and attendance records.
• Successful completion of the pre-employment testing process.
• This is a safety-sensitive position. Candidates must be able to pass the pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
