Job description

SUMMARY

Clean interiors and exteriors of liquid food grade tanker trailers, exteriors of tractors i.e. trucks and related accessories, to remove soils, residues and incrustations by performing the duties described in the wash rack manual. All duties will be performed in accordance with company policy and procedures, operating standards and government regulatory agencies, local and federal, local sewer authorities, and air pollution control boards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Drains tank, connects hose to water or steam lines, and sprays walls, roof and bottom of tank to flush residue through tank openings.
  • Sweeps up debris and places in approved receptacles.
  • Dries tanks with portable or fixed air-drying equipment.
  • Perform atmospheric testing of tank interior and other confined spaces.
  • Disassembles and re-assembles tank accessories [valves, caps, plugs].
  • Completes all customer requirements in accordance with work instructions.
  • Washing of interior and exterior of product hoses.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and /or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience a plus, but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk on elevated surface; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders (14’) or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to enter through man way into interior of cargo tank trailer to perform daily duties associated with tank cleaning and be capable of working in a confined space. In addition, the employee will be required to act as an observer for confined space entries. This will require in a case of an emergency rescue, to be able to lift vertically with assistance by rope retrieval the weight of the entrant.

Must be able to work on uneven or slippery surfaces.

Must be able to grasp and make use of high-pressure wash wand and water hose.

No use of illegal substances.

MECHANICAL SKILLS

Involving minor repairs and replacement of parts [accessories] for tank valves, piping, caps, etc., including working with pumps and hoses.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Add and subtract and to multiply and divide, to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, comprehend safety manuals, short correspondence, and memos, ability to write simple correspondence, ability to effectively present information in one-on-one with immediate supervisor and with co-workers in cleaning rack.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.50-$27.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
