DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote culture, core values, and strong workplace relationships.
  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment and section process, including drafting job postings, reviewing and screening resumes, scheduling interviews for shortlisted candidates, coordinating communication with stakeholders, participating in interviews, conducting reference checks, and preparing offer letters.
  • Support HR compliance with Alberta legislation, assist with policy updates, and help implement legal or policy changes.
  • Advise and monitor progressive discipline processes, performance plan implementation, and investigations.
  • Provide guidance; applying compliance, regulations, policies, procedures, employment lay and contractual obligations.
  • Manage employee leave entitlements.
  • Manage disability requirements, including WCB claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Ensure all recruitment practices are in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, union regulations, and labor laws, maintaining open lines of communication with union representatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding day-to-day HR inquiries.
  • Implement and maintain HR policies, procedures and documentation.

PERFORMANCE & TECHNICAL OBJECTIVES

  • Ability to maintain a high level of discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
  • Strong understanding and compliance of employment labor laws.
  • Morale builder and point of contact for employee and leader support and guidance.
  • Self-motivated, confident, conscientious, knows when to ask for help.
  • Able to reprioritize in a rapidly changing environment.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or business administration.

  • Proven 5+ years of progressive HR experience.

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.

  • Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask while working effectively independently and in collaboration with others in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines.

  • Proven ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion and sound judgement.
