Your Role
Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the Local Driver – Acheson is responsible for transporting cargo within the local area based on customer and company needs. Duties include picking up and delivering freight, loading and unloading cargo, and ensuring safe and efficient operations.
This is a local position with no overnight travel required, offering consistent work within the region.
Potential Schedule (based on customer needs): Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday
Key Responsibilities
- Transport cargo within the local region
- Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including tarping, chaining, and tie-downs
- Assist with loading and unloading of trucks
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safety compliance
- Verify load documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain required records including logbooks, bills of lading, and PO numbers
- Deliver product and paperwork in a professional and timely manner
- Comply with all safety regulations including hours of service, occupational health and safety, and weight and dimension requirements
- Provide occasional assistance in the yard
- Complete other duties as assigned
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Class 1A driver’s license
- Minimum 2+ years of deck experience
- Experience hauling loads up to 13'4 wide
- Strong knowledge of transportation safety regulations
- Proven reliability and accountability
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to exert force up to 50kg
