WHAT WILL YOU DO
The Terminal Operations Specialists are the eyes and ears for the operation, responding to incidents and emergencies, gathering critical information, as well as monitoring and enforcing airport operations and security.
WHATS THE TEAM LIKE
The Integrated Operations Centre (IOC)is the “heart” of YYC’s operations providing a consistent and collaborative response to operational needs at the Calgary International Airport. The IOC team works collaboratively both in front of and behind the scenes to ensure that the operations flow smoothly and to ensure high quality customer service.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Audit/Oversight Airport Operations Program
- While on shift, act as a representative of Calgary Airports ensuring to create a strong connection with the airport community and partners including tenants, first responders, airline partners etc.
- Work with partners to ensure queuing is managed effectively, passenger flows are optimized, and guest questions are answered, to enhance the guest experience.
- Audit and inspect the airport facility to mitigate potential safety hazards and operational impacts.
- Actively report on issues, occurrences and observations, bringing all information to the IOC team to ensure proper adjustments can be made.
- Ensure compliance of tenants, airlines, stakeholders, passengers and Authority employees with all applicable acts, laws, regulations, and safety measures.
- Respond to safety, security and emergency incidents coordinating and directing response efforts as the On Scene Controller (OSC).
- Perform Threat Risk Assessments (TRA) in collaboration with stakeholders required as per Transport Canada regulations.
- Respond to any Irregular Operations (IROPS) as the representative of The Authority and provide support to guests, airlines, and any other stakeholders as required.
- Monitor terminal construction projects and ensure compliance with Security and Operational plans.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING
- The ability to gain and maintain a RAIC (RAIC Program and Application Information)
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in complex operations, preferably in airport terminal operations, or a similarly regulated, operational environment.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to manage crisis situations, especially in situations where the public is involved.
- Experience in managing difficult or escalating situations with professionalism and composure.
- Demonstrated exceptional verbal & written communication skills.
- Strong relationship building skills, with the ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with customers, contractors, airport stakeholders and internal staff.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation including Canadian Aviation Regulations.
- Physical ability to continuously patrol Airport terminals for prolonged durations.
WHAT OPTIONAL ELEMENTS SUPPORT YOUR APPLICATION (all are assets)
- Bilingual in English or French.
- Post secondary diploma in a related field such as aviation, airport operations, emergency management or a related discipline is preferred. Alternatively, a high school diploma combined with relevant experience may be considered.
- Formal training in Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200 preferred.
