What is the opportunity?
RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) is the asset management division of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and includes money managers BlueBay Asset Management and Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management. RBC GAM is a provider of global investment management services and solutions to institutional, high-net-worth and individual investors through separate accounts, pooled funds, mutual funds, hedge funds, exchange-traded funds and specialty investment strategies.
Leading the RBC GAM Product Management team, you will be responsible for the management of existing product lines through effective execution of projects and recurring activities. The product management team is responsible for all RBC GAM fund families and investment solutions available to Canadian investors and advisors within the Individual Investor business.
What will you do?
- Lead key business initiatives that drive client/advisor solutions, AUM and NIBT growth in support of RBC GAM's strategic plans
- Lead cross functional teams across RBC GAM and RBC to deliver product related initiatives to support sales and business development, fund and series launches, mergers and closures, etc.
- Manage internal resources (legal, operations, investment management, etc.) to enable successful completion of product initiatives
- Develop and support product strategies to grow relationships with our various distribution partners
- Deliver all RBC GAM regulatory obligations including management of prospectus renewals, amendments, material change reports, press releases, fund facts, support of Management Report of Fund Performance (MRFP) and is responsible for managing fiduciary obligations to unitholders
- Manage all change communications related to RBC GAM product initiatives with internal partners including sales, operations, legal, RBC distribution channels, as well as supporting marketing and communication teams
- Responsible for applying environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors to the Individual Investor business through product support, education, communications, and marketing
- Manage sub-advisor review and monitor process and supplier risk due diligence
- Conduct on-going assessments of the RBC GAM product line-up to ensure continued delivery on value propositions, including pricing, performance, and availability
- Enhance and evolve the product management discipline within RBC GAM
- Responsible for ensuring all product information is consistent, reliable, and integral within internal partners, external sources (Morningstar, Fundata, Reuters, etc.), and clients
- Build and lead a high-performing team
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- 10+ years of investment / business experience
- University undergraduate degree or equivalent
- Experience in developing and leading business initiatives
- Project management skills
- Exposure to product management and project lifecycle methods
- Knowledge of National Instrument 81-102 Mutual Funds and non-81-102 alternative structures (i.e. OM Funds / private placements)
- Strong understanding of financial and investment management concepts
- Knowledge of mutual fund industry and products with a focus on regulatory structure, pricing, operational requirements, and client / advisor needs
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- MBA or CFA
- Understanding of RBC GAM products is an asset
