Your Opportunity:
eporting to the Manager and working collaboratively with a wide range of partners, providers and stakeholders, the Addiction & Mental Health (AMH) Bed Manager is the single point of contact for a centralized service that works to ensure the effective and efficient utilization of all Adult Acute Mental Health beds in the Edmonton zone (inclusive of the beds at the Covenant Health operated sites). This includes receiving all requests for an adult acute MH bed, confirming medical necessity for admission, the level of urgency and type of bed required, identification of appropriate and available beds and coordinating the admission of the person to the appropriate bed and site, including the identification and resolution of any barriers to admission. In addition, the AMH Bed Manager facilitates the direct transfer of patients from emergency departments to the Addiction Recovery Centre (ARC), and manages the flow/access into assigned specialty care beds (e.g. Young Adult Unit). The AMH Bed Manager also provides ongoing and overall surveillance of bed availability, demand, pressures and barriers to flow in both Edmonton and North zones and plays an active role in informing the zone of delays and barriers and in assisting in the resolution of same.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58/hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with Recovery Alberta /UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
MS Excel literacy. Minimum of three years’ experience in acute care – preferably in an AMH or emergency department setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with bed/resource utilization systems/processes and Connect Care would be an asset.
