System Integration Engineer
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Driven by hygienic design concepts to lead a team of engineers and designers in the design of industrial food processing equipment systems
- Develop and maintain design drawings, programs, documents, machine function descriptions, processes, and design versions in our FPS Autodesk Vault application
- Development of automation systems, control systems, production line integration, and data management systems to enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety
- Perform risk assessments, audit & troubleshooting during the implementation phase
- Provide technical support and liaise between client-facing project managers, field support, shop staff, and component suppliers in all aspects of project planning, design, procurement, and execution, to meet customer needs
- Budget planning, cost control, negotiating to obtain cross bids from multiple vendors for major parts procurement
- Generate a purchase request based on the order confirmation and the approved General layout
- Understand the industry to ensure all specifications & functions are met, optimizing cost and utilization of material and resources as part of the functional design
- Verifying the designs meet original design requirements from concept, analysis, design modification, manufacturing inspection, installation, testing, to final commissioning
- Lead internal design reviews and work with the design team to make necessary revisions
- Work in compliance with all FPS administrative, health & safety policies and procedures
- Provide direction and verification for junior staff members
- Oversea travel to customer project sites as and when required
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Post-secondary, bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Fabrication, System Engineering, or related discipline
- 1-2 years of engineering experience, ideally with some involvement in food processing equipment or related design
- Professional Affiliation registrant as P.Eng.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (Inventor/SolidWorks/Factory/Plant3D)
- Knowledge of industrial automation & control systems (i.e. PLC, DCS, SCADA), Control Systems, and their development for production line integration.
- Familiarity with Factory System Integration Layout drawing design, Piping, P&ID, and maintaining design versions in the FPS Autodesk Vault application.
- Knowledge of Structural engineering, Pumps, Flow Rates, Material, Fluid & Thermodynamics, and Stress analysis (Essential for equipment design and verifying design requirements ).
- Strong leadership skills in team building, project, vendor, and client management (Crucial for leading design teams, liaising with project managers/suppliers, and providing direction for junior staff).
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences (Needed for technical support and liaison).
- Strong analytical, mathematical, critical, and problem-solving skills (Required for design verification and troubleshooting).
- Strong negotiation skills and experience with Budget planning, cost control, and obtaining cross bids for procurement.
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated, as well as a team player, with a willingness to meet quick deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Salary range - $65,000 - $80,000
