Description
Bus Hosts are in a visible role and provide an outstanding experience for guests using our Sunshine shuttles. Hosts create a warm and welcoming environment, greeting guests, and educating them on our policies and procedures, and keeping guest counts for safety, capacity, and pass/ticket tracking. They also are available to assist guests with questions and with loading equipment. Bus Hosts report to the Transportation Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor, work alongside Bus Drivers, and liaise with other Resort departments including Bourgeau Services, Security, Guest Services, and our Dispatch team.
Job Functions
Orderly and effective monitoring of guests using Sunshine’s shuttle transportation services.
Being able to effectively communicate with and organize large groups of people. Must be unafraid to raise your voice in a firm, but professional, manner.
Providing high quality service by anticipating needs, assisting with loading equipment, and being knowledgeable about the Resort’s services and operations.
Completing accurate counts and assisting with any reporting (i.e., incident reporting, deficiencies, providing witness statements).
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
Experience/Requirements
- Outgoing, positive, friendly attitude with a passion for providing outstanding guest service.
- Prepared to work flexible schedules (weekends, holidays, nights).
- Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions (appropriate footwear, under garments, gloves, etc.)
- Calm under pressure and patient.
- Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
- Maintain professional conduct when in uniform on or off-duty.
- Effectively provide support and assistance to coworkers.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings and training.
- Must be neat, alert, punctual and dependable.
Additional Considerations
- Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
- This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, frequent lifting, pushing/pulling of ski, snowboard, and other equipment. Bus Hosts climb up and down steps constantly and must be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Working in an alpine environment.
- Required uniform pieces (liner, jacket, pants, toque) are provided. It is highly recommended that hosts wear winter-rated footwear and warm winter gloves. While working in the Rockies, being prepared to work in a variety of conditions is a must at all times.
This role is subject to the terms and conditions contained in the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook and Policy Manual, and the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
