Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic (2nd-4th Year) Calgary, AB Why Work Here At New West Truck Centres, you'll learn from experienced technicians in a modern shop equipped with the latest diagnostic technology. You'll gain hands-on experience working on a wide variety of heavy truck makes and models, trailers, and specialized logging and mining equipment. As an apprentice, you'll receive structured on-the-job training while progressively building your skills and confidence. From preventative maintenance to advanced diagnostics, you'll gain exposure to a wide variety of repairs that prepare you for a successful career as a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician. You'll: Assist Journeypersons with diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and commercial equipment Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and component replacement Learn proper repair procedures, diagnostic techniques, and manufacturer standards Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Assist with identifying required parts and tools Accurately document completed work Progress through your apprenticeship while continuing to develop your technical skills What You'll Bring Registered 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Year Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician Passion for building a long-term career in the heavy-duty trade Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn Positive attitude and dependable work ethic Ability to work independently and as part of a team Assets Class 1 or Class 3 Driver's Licence Why You'll Succeed Curious You enjoy learning how things work and aren't afraid to ask questions.
