What we need:
Drawing on project and change management expertise, the Project Manager within the Surgical Services, will provide leadership and direction in the development, execution and evaluation of a variety of organizational-wise, strategic projects. In particular, this role will support the implementation of a corporate-wide, comprehensive scheduling system. The overarching objectives of this project are to improve efficiency; improve financial health; reduce duplication of services; address gaps; and improve end-user satisfaction. The Project Manager will support project implementation, with an important focus on both knowledge management and relationship management. This position will serve as a liaison between various hospital departments and the Surgical Services.
The successful candidate must have extensive experience in project management, and implementing enterprise-wide systems. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with the ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment. This key support function will contribute to the refinement of corporate-wide strategic planning and project implementation practices, streamlining hospital-wide activity to align with our strategic vision -Care Beyond Our Walls: Connecting With Our Community.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with project sponsor and process owner to complete project plans defining project scope, assumptions, risks, goals and deliverables, and financial resources
- Establish the project team and infrastructure to support project implementation and sustainability
- Communicate with, and ensure active engagement of, project sponsor, process owners and team members throughout all project phases
- Ensure that project outcomes align and move strategic goals and business goals towards targets
- Measure and report project progress
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
- In collaboration with project sponsor and process owner, manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and develop contingency plans
- Incorporate LEAN principles and concepts into project planning and implementation
- Support organizational change within the project environment and develop innovative methods to achieve results-oriented outcomes
- Ensure effective functioning of project team members in the execution of their responsibilities, hold team members accountable, and address any performance deficiencies
- Establish and sustain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate and influence project management
- Manage conflict to optimize project performance and accomplish project objectives successfully
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
- Work collaboratively to build project management capacity across the organization
- Utilize project management theory and technology to support implementation of projects
- Manage multiple projects
- Write proposals and business cases
What you bring to Oak Valley Health :

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Master’s degree preferred)
-
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
-
5-7 years’ experience in practical application of project management theory, including change management, resource planning and management, risk management, evaluation, etc.

Previous project management experience in a healthcare environment is required
-
Previous project management experience with a surgical department flow and process is an asset
-
Strong working knowledge of relevant project management tools
-
Understanding of quality and process improvement concepts
-
Significant knowledge of hospital operations processes, health care service delivery models and emerging issues and priorities
-
Technical expertise in the practical implementation of hospital systems, considered an asset
-
Experience in RFP development and participation in procurement processes considered an asset

Business literacy

Effective planning, organizing and evaluating skills

Relationship building skills and proven ability to manage projects involving stakeholders from diverse areas, levels and organizations

Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills to ensure positive outcomes for quality patient care when dealing with internal hospital stakeholders and external partners

Ability to use information from multiple sources to formulate recommendations and provide input to planning processes

Ability to fact-find using a variety of methods such as interviews, research, reports, best practice guidelines and face-to-face meetings

Organizational agility and versatility to move comfortably across organizational levels, and influence leaders

Strong facilitation skills and ability to manage group process

Exceptional ability to synthesize complex issues and communicate effectively, with clarity and impact, to various audiences across all organizational levels, utilizing a variety of media

Computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office software applications and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, business intelligence tools, process mapping, and presentation software

Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards

Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday 8-4; with the ability to flex hours.
Onsite work required.
