Forward Deployment Engineer
About the role
About Qubittron Qubittron is an enterprise AI and SAP consulting firm building the Qubi AI Suite — a self-hosted, zero-telemetry AI platform that lets regulated and data-sensitive enterprises run agentic AI inside their own environment, with no data leaving their walls. We connect AI directly to the systems of record that actually run a business - starting with SAP S/4HANA and ECC - and we've delivered for multiple Fortune 500 organizations. We're a founder-led, fast-moving team. The product is real, customers are deploying it, and the next stretch of growth depends on getting the Qubi AI Suite into production environments cleanly and quickly. That's where you come in.
About the Role As our first dedicated Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you'll be the person who turns "interested customer" into "live in production." You'll embed with enterprise customers - often SAP-heavy mid-market manufacturers - deploy the Qubi AI Suite into their environment, wire it into their ERP and data sources, and build the agents, workflows, and integrations that solve their specific problems. This is a deeply technical, customer-facing role. You'll spend your time split between writing code in the field, architecting secure deployments, and being the trusted technical voice in the room. Because we're early, what you learn on-site directly shapes the product - you'll be the tightest feedback loop between customers and engineering. If you like owning outcomes end to end, thrive in ambiguity, and want your work to matter to a real business by Friday, you'll fit here.
What You'll Do Deploy the Qubi AI Suite into customer environments — on-prem, private cloud, or air-gapped — preserving our zero-telemetry, self-hosted guarantees. Build secure ERP connectivity between the Suite and customer SAP S/4HANA / ECC systems using our reverse-tunnel connector architecture (Cloudflare Tunnel / mTLS, Redis Streams) and our Universal ERP MCP Server. Configure and tune RAG pipelines (Supabase / pgvector) against customer documents and structured data, and evaluate retrieval approaches per use case. Build agentic workflows and integrations - from MCP servers to A2A agent orchestration to optional voice channels (ElevenLabs / Twilio) - mapped to real customer processes. Run technical discovery and scoping with customer architects and IT/security teams, including security reviews, network/firewall constraints, and compliance requirements. Own the technical relationship through deployment, go-live, and early adoption - troubleshooting in production and ensuring the customer succeeds. Feed the product roadmap. Turn field learnings into crisp requirements, reusable templates, and reference architectures so the next deployment is faster than the last. Support pre-sales as the technical credibility in key conversations - demos, proofs of concept, and architecture deep-dives.
What We're Looking For 5+ years building and shipping software in enterprise environments, with meaningful customer-facing or field-engineering experience. Strong hands-on coding ability - comfortable across Python and TypeScript/JavaScript, building APIs, services, and integrations. Solid grasp of enterprise integration and networking: REST/SSE, message queues, TLS/mTLS, tunnels, firewalls, and how to deploy securely inside someone else's environment. Experience with LLM application development - RAG, vector databases, agent/tool orchestration, and prompt/eval workflows. Familiarity with containerized, self-hosted deployment (Docker, cloud platforms like Railway/AWS/Azure/GCP) and infrastructure-as-code mindset. Genuinely customer-facing: you can run a technical room, translate between business and engineering, and stay calm when a go-live gets tense. Comfortable with ambiguity and ownership - you'd rather figure it out and ship than wait for a spec. Eligible to work in Canada and willing to travel to customer sites (Canada/US) as needed.
Nice to Have SAP experience — S/4HANA, ECC, BTP, ABAP, or integration architecture. (A major plus given our customer base.) Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP), agent-to-agent (A2A) protocols, or building MCP servers. Background in regulated or data-sensitive industries (manufacturing, finance, healthcare) and their security/compliance expectations. Familiarity with Supabase/Postgres/pgvector, Redis, and modern AI tooling. Bilingual English/French. Prior experience as an early or founding engineer at a startup.
Why Join First FDE, real ownership. You'll define how Qubittron deploys and delivers - and grow with the function as we scale. Work that ships and matters. Real enterprise customers, real production systems, fast feedback. Frontier problems. Self-hosted agentic AI on top of mission-critical ERP — a genuinely hard, genuinely valuable space. Direct access. Work closely with the founder; no layers between you and the decisions.
Salary range - 80,000 CAD to 135,000 CAD based on experience.
How to Apply Send your resume and a short note on a system you deployed or integrated end to end — what was hard and how you got it live — to jobs@qubittron.com. Links to code, projects, or write-ups welcome and encouraged.
