About the role

Job Purpose:

As program lead you are responsible for meeting the deliverables of a Provincial Mentorship Program that has been designed by the BC Construction Association. The role provides operational management and direction for a Building Builders program.

  • Operations management

  • Responsible for providing direction and strategic vision of the program

  • Guides the team to ensure project deliverables meet targets and maintains smooth program operation

  • Provides support and guidance to the program team for delivery

  • Addresses program-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders

  • Engages with industry, employment service agencies, and other stakeholders

  • Manages the creation and upkeep of monthly reporting, invoicing, and maintains effective relationships with funders

  • Conducts regular team conference calls and additional meetings as needed

  • Oversees the program database for accurate information

  • Gathers information and data from regional staff, industry, and stakeholders for narrative reports to the BCCA Board and program funders

  • Engagement and Promotion

    • Work with the Marketing Department to provide content, success stories, news etc. to support website updates, social media posts. Request marketing needs through the marketing department
    • Determine relevant functions, meetings, and conferences supporting program objectives to attend, assigning staff to attend as appropriate.
    • Work with the Engagement Manager and marketing department to maintain the marketing plan that develops community engagement for the Mentorship Program, that includes effective communication and industry participation in the program to meet funding deliverables.
  • Human Resources management

    • Ongoing review of job descriptions and ensure employee reviews with feedback/goal setting
    • Participate in the hiring of new staff as necessary
    • Ensure staff have adequate training and resources to undertake their responsibilities.
    • Oversight of staff and vacation requests
    • Develops and oversees documentation and policies of program
  • Financial Management

    • Oversee processing of financial transactions.
    • Reviews expense claims and all financial transactions related to program delivery
    • Reviews all invoices/receipts to ensure they meet contract eligibility
    • Works with accounting team to monitor budget and establish annual forecast
    • Collects program data and submits reporting requirements to funder
    • Review of expense claim requests
    • Manage asset management
  • Provides overall support to the program as opportunities arise

  • Other duties as assigned

Key Results:

Positively impact the construction labour market and achieve contract goals and meet deliverables as stated in the agreement with the program’s funder.
