Lake Country Co-op invites applications for the position of Full-Time Assistant Team Leader onsite at our Convenience Store/Gas Bar in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan. If you are dedicated to delivering an outstanding customer experience, have a proven track record in sales, and are talented at working both independently and as the leader of a highly motivated team then Lake Country Co-op is looking for you. This position will supervise Team Members, maintain inventory and champion Asset Protection and Safety Management at the Shellbrook Convenience Store and Gas Bar encompassing sales of approximately $12 million.

What You Will Do:

  • Demonstrate the behaviors and actions to support Lake Country Co-operative’s vision, mission, and safety principles to make a difference in members lives, with a strong customer focused approach.
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience at all touch points through various communication channels.
  • Assist with building and leading a high-performance team that delivers on budgeted targets by maximizing operational efficiency.
  • Lead the Convenience Store team in providing quality service and convenience.
  • Ensure the department is displaying, stocking, and rotating merchandise as per company policy and standard with a focus on maintaining image and brand standards.
  • Ensure inventories are managed and protected in compliance with management standards and practices to maintain high levels of accuracy and minimal loss.
  • Provide superior leadership to team members through coaching, mentoring, performance management and feedback.
  • Become familiar with and adhere to Lake Country Co-op policies such as selling of age restricted items and all government regulations relating to tobacco and lottery.
  • Oversee the completion of daily reports, reconciliations, and purchases.
  • Champion the Asset Protection and Safety Management systems, policies, procedures.
  • Perform minor repairs to assets as required.
  • Perform all other duties as required.

Who You Will Work With: Reporting to the Shellbrook Convenience Store/Gas Bar Team Leader, you will be a key participant in initiating, developing, and executing plans and policies to ensure continued growth in sales, service, employee satisfaction, and customer experience. Who You Are:
You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and Customer Service and:

  • You have 2 years of Retail Convenience Store management or supervisory experience including Convenience Store operations, knowledge of pumps, fuel and compliance in a full-service environment.
  • Completion of the Retail Energy Advance Program is an asset.
  • Co-operative Retailing System experience and post-secondary education in a business-related field are assets.
  • You are creative, self-reliant, goal oriented, and can set and adjust priorities in an ever-changing retail environment.
  • You possess experience in the areas of member relations, selling, health and safety, ordering, receiving, merchandising, asset maintenance.
  • You have a strong understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures.
  • You have a high level of integrity and accountability.
  • You have sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills.
  • You must be able to plan and organize your own work and that of others, supervise others, and delegate to others.
  • You have a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
  • You are tech savvy with a good understanding of retail technology.
  • You are customer focused and have the ability to work in a fast paced, guest facing environment.
  • You must be willing to obtain propane dispenser, WHMIS, and Serve It Right certifications.
  • You are available for day travel and some overnight travel to attend seminars, meetings, training programs for other operational purposes.
  • You are 19 years of age or older.
  • You can fulfill the physical job requirements, standing, working outside and inside, lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • You have a flexible work schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license is preferred.
