CASA Mental Health is expanding across Alberta to reach more kids, youth and families with vital and timely mental health services that are always free, closer to home. CASA’s Communications team provides strategic communications support for internal and external communications – support that is even more important as the organization expands provincially.

About the Role
CASA is currently recruiting for a Communications Coordinator to build the organization’s growing social media presence. This role will showcase CASA people and programs in creative and engaging ways, keeping CASA’s values front and center while helping build awareness of and support for the organization and its expansion goals.

The Communications Coordinator will:

  • Use CASA’s social media strategy and content pillars to develop, execute and measure the effectiveness of campaigns and content:
    • Develop and evaluate social media strategies.
    • Plan and execute campaigns with performance tracking.
    • Create engaging, brand-aligned content.
    • Support employee engagement and events.
    • Share patient and family stories to showcase CASA programs.
    • Assist Communications Specialists with communications strategies by advising on best social media approach.
  • Leverage strong photography and Instagram reel-creation skills to produce engaging visual content. Stay up to date with trends and apply them strategically within the CASA context to enhance audience engagement.
    • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the brand identity and target audience to ensure content alignment and impact.
  • Support internal and external communication focused on CASA’s main audiences.
  • Support CASA Mental Health’s awareness-raising initiatives as it expands from being primarily based in Edmonton to serving thousands of children, youth and families across Alberta.
  • Provide general communications support to the department and organization, including basic design and layout, writing and editing, content development, and drafting correspondence and reports.
  • Create and maintain templated materials, e.g. letterhead, PowerPoint, posters, forms and any policies, guidelines and standards related to these products.
  • Advise on digital storytelling throughout the organization, including seeking patient stories and working with departments on creating and developing stories that explain what CASA does and the value it provides.
  • Maintain and develop content for CASA’s employee intranet and external website.
  • Identify and implement regular updates to publications and promotional materials.
  • Provide administrative support for internal newsletters (e.g. maintain distribution lists, collect and organize content, and collect analytics).
  • Monitor shared email inboxes and escalate as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience, with demonstrated success in managing corporate social media accounts, is a requirement.
  • Experience with writing, proofreading, editing web content and communications plan
  • Prior videography and photography experience is an asset.
  • Post-secondary or continuing education in communications, marketing, journalism or public relations. A certificate or diploma in a relevant subject may be supplemented with equivalent experience working in a similar role.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in WordPress, Elementor, ThoughtFarmer or other web management programs is an asset.
  • Experience in Asana or other project management software is an asset.
  • Experience working in mental health, non-profit, philanthropy or any related fields is an asset.
