YOUR MISSION
We're looking for On-Call Lighting Technician to join our Montreal Technical Studios team. If you're ready to get involved in exciting projects with a global scope, you've come to the right place.
As an On-Call employee, you'll work exclusively at Cirque du Soleil headquarters in Montreal and you'll enjoy flexibility: no fixed schedules or binding obligations. Responsibilities
The On-Call Lighting Technician under the direction of the Head of Lighting / Sound / Video / FX, is responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Assist with the setup, installation, and operation of lighting equipment for rehearsals, performances, and special events; Conduct routine maintenance checks on lighting fixtures, cables, and control systems to ensure safety and optimal performance; Troubleshoot technical issues and malfunctions promptly, implementing solutions to minimize downtime during presentations; Assist with the repair and replacement of lighting equipment as needed, following safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines; Provide support and assistance during load-ins, load-outs, and technical rehearsals, collaborating closely with the studios crew members. Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Adhere to Cirque du Soleil's safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations related to electrical systems, rigging, and working at heights. Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses to the appropriate personnel and follow established protocols for incident management.
You Possess The Following Educational, Professional, And Technical Skills
Degree or diploma in Theater Production, Lighting Design, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Minimum of two years of experience as a Lighting Technician in live entertainment, theater, or events industry; Proficiency in operating lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, ETC EOS) and familiarity with lighting software (e.g., Vectorworks, Lightwright); Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues under pressure; Knowledge of lighting principles, including color theory, beam angles, fixture types, and DMX protocols. Comprehension of basic principles of AC/DC electricity, power distribution, basic electronics, computer operations and networking as it pertains to lighting systems; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment; Willingness to work flexible hours; Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken;
