About the role
Jellycat is a privately owned design-led, gift brand headquartered in London. We create innovative luxurious products in the soft toy, accessory, baby and book categories that are loved around the world. We have an established and growing global customer base and we work with our partners to maximize the potential and reach of Jellycat throughout, sharing joy as we go!
As we continue to grow throughout North America, we continue to develop and improve the presence and awareness of our brand.
The Retail Operations and Event Manager role is responsible for ensuring that all our Jellycat Retail ‘Experiences’, Shop-in-Shops, Pop-ups, activations and branded spaces are operating at a consistently high level and are representative of our Luxury Brand positioning. This will be possible by building strong relationships with the key teams in the store to ensure everyone working with Jellycat has pride in elevating the consumer experience at all touchpoints with the brand. Jellycat is an emotionally connective brand, and we strive to deliver excellence at every point at which we connect with the fans and the consumers, whether this is a full theatrical experience at Selfridges, London or through a small independent store in a local town.
Immersing yourself in Jellycat’s brand expression and global standards for in-store execution will be a key priority. This role goes beyond maintaining existing footprints—it includes driving exciting new rollouts in partnership with our creative, design and sales teams. Once a project goes live, you’ll lead the critical “hyper-care” period and ensure a smooth transition into business-as-usual operations.
You’ll also be responsible for developing business plans for new initiatives, working closely with commercial finance to model ROI and with sales teams to align on projections, ultimately building out the P&L for branded activations.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, delivers against tight deadlines, and enjoys being out in retail where the brand comes to life. At times, project launch schedules may require evening or weekend work, with any additional hours eligible for equivalent time off.
You'll be:
Retail Operations:
- Overseeing partner projects to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of Jellycat activations, including inventory management, merchandising, and relationship management
- Training and engaging retail staff to deliver excellent customer service and ensure efficient operations
- Maintaining high standards of customer service to ensure a positive in-store experience—every detail matters
- Overseeing budgets, building and submitting financial business cases, and managing project spend and aftercare when applicable
- Presenting financial outcomes, product analysis, project updates, and key learnings to the business to ensure world-class activations and events
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and health and safety standards
Events Management:
- Managing event budgets, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining high event quality
- Coordinating with vendors, external partners, and sponsors to ensure successful event execution
- Collaborating with the marketing team to promote events via social media, email campaigns, and other marketing channels—including internal communications
- Overseeing all aspects of event execution, including logistics, setup, staffing, and breakdown, to ensure seamless operations
- Conducting post-event evaluations, including gathering customer feedback, assessing financial performance, and providing recommendations for improvement
You'll have:
- A demonstrated track record in a similar role, ideally within a luxury brand environment
- 5–8 years of experience in retail management and/or event planning (leadership experience is a plus)
- The ability to engage, motivate, and inspire teams to deliver on goals—even when they do not report directly to you or work for Jellycat
- Excellent project management skills, with a proven ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong presentation skills to gain buy-in from internal stakeholders and external vendors
- A customer-first mindset and a passion for delivering outstanding retail and event experiences within the luxury sector
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident in presenting to leadership and negotiating with vendors and stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the flexibility to adapt and find creative solutions under pressure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with marketing tools like social media and CRM platforms is a plus
- The ability to travel both domestically and internationally—travel is expected to be approximately 30%
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for event or project installations and on-site support
Our Perks & Benefits:
- Discretionary Bonus - All employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on the success of the company.
- Medical Allowance - Jellycat provides eligible employees with an allowance payment which the employee can use toward the cost of any health insurance coverage obtained at their own election.
- Paid Time Off (PTO) - Jellycat offers up to 30 days of combined vacation and sick time at the start of each calendar year.
- Regular Social & Team Events - We have a very imaginative and active social committee who meet regularly to put on events that help us mark special occasions and celebrate our successes as a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift and carry materials or boxes weighing up to 25 lbs., as needed for support.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for events, including locations outside of Canada.
