Experienced Houdini Artist wanted for our Gastown/Railtown studio located at 259 Alexander Street, Vancouver, BC V6A 1C2.

Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and artistically inclined Houtini Artist to join our Vancouver team. The Houdini Artist will work closely with the CG Supervisor, Leads and other artists to produce high quality animation, creating compelling, story-driven, and action-packed moments that fit within the style and pacing of the project. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of preparing and importing Houdini assets into the Unreal engine, as well as troubleshooting skills to be able to solve technical and artistic issues while meeting production deadlines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare, clean and organize Houdini setups.
  • Flag and troubleshoot software bugs.
  • Profile and optimize setups to meet the project requirements without sacrificing visual fidelity.
  • Communicate regularly with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines.
  • Submit shots for review and follow through with notes and feedback, if required.
  • Adhere to scheduling and show deadlines.

Qualifications Include:

  • 3+ years experience as a Houdini artist.
  • Must have experience preparing and importing Houdini assets into Unreal Engine.
  • Familiarity with Houdini Niagara workflow.
  • Ability to refine and adjust the look of Houdini based assets directly in Unreal Engine.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine’s Niagara VFX system is a bonus
  • Good understanding of preparing and exporting assets for other programs, including UE.
  • Must have experience of the Unreal 5.6 Engine.
  • Experience with the Unreal Material Editor.
  • Experience with Nested Unreal levels set-up.
  • Knowledge of the Unreal Engine sequencer.
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated and can work independently or part of a team
  • Ability to take direction from supervisor positively and thrive under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Perforce is a plus.
  • Experience in Shotgun is a plus
  • Knowledge of scripting and creating tools a plus
  • Must be in PST, or ideally Vancouver based.
