SR&ED Analyst Career – Research, Development, and Innovation
- Support the advancement of Plasman’s research and experimental development (SR&ED) projects by preparing, documenting, and analyzing claim-eligible scientific activities across business units.
- Work closely with engineering, design, and finance teams to identify qualifying SR&ED activities within the company’s new product and process innovation initiatives.
- Compile and maintain accurate supporting documentation for SR&ED claims, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and guidelines set by tax authorities.
- Analyze and interpret technical and financial data to determine eligibility and potential benefits under SR&ED tax incentive programs.
- Coordinate internal SR&ED awareness and training efforts, fostering strong collaboration between multidisciplinary teams.
- Liaise with external consultants and auditors to support claim submission, review, and follow-up processes.
- Assist in developing and refining internal processes to optimize SR&ED claim accuracy and maximize value to the organization.
Key Responsibilities – Scientific Research & Development Program Analyst
- Review technical project documentation and interview subject matter experts to identify SR&ED-eligible work and gather evidence of experimentation or technological advancement.
- Prepare comprehensive technical narratives and justifications for SR&ED claims in accordance with Canadian Income Tax Act regulations.
- Support Finance with accurate quantification of eligible expenditures and timely submission of SR&ED claims.
- Keep current with updates to SR&ED program rules, CRA compliance standards, and industry best practices for research and innovation reporting.
- Participate in post-claim audits, address technical queries, and recommend strategies to mitigate potential risks or compliance issues.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation by proactively identifying opportunities for continual improvement in research and development processes.
Qualifications & Experience Needed For SR&ED Analyst Jobs
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Accounting, Business, or a related technical field. Relevant experience considered in lieu of formal education.
- 1-3 years of experience with SR&ED claims preparation, scientific research documentation, government incentive programs, or technical project management preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail with proven organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Proficiency in documentation, data analysis, and project tracking software.
- Understanding of Canadian SR&ED program requirements and compliance standards considered an asset.
- Background in the automotive or manufacturing sector is an advantage, but not required.
