Your Team:
Join Flair’s Operational Excellence team, where strategic transformation and data-driven insight support continuous improvement across the airport network. Reporting to the Director, Operational Excellence, the General Manager, Airport Transformation & Analytics is responsible for leading transformation initiatives that enhance the customer experience, improve operational performance, and strengthen cross-functional execution. This role oversees initiatives focused on punctuality, cost efficiency, reduction of delayed and damaged baggage, ancillary revenue optimization, and end-to-end airport lifecycle projects.
The General Manager provides governance, analytical insight, and disciplined project management to ensure initiatives are delivered effectively and aligned with organizational priorities. The role also coordinates airport start-ups, closures, and operational pauses, ensuring risks are identified early, mitigation strategies are implemented, and projects are delivered safely, on time, and to standard.
This role is based on-site at our Vancouver (YVR), Calgary (YYC) or Edmonton (YEG) office.
A Day in the Life:
The duties of the General Manager, Airport Transformation & Analytics include:
- Customer Experience & Operational Performance Transformation
- Lead initiatives to enhance the airport customer journey, improving perception, satisfaction, and overall experience.
- Drive targeted improvements in key operational metrics, including:
- On-time performance (OTP and departure punctuality)
- Delayed baggage reduction
- Damaged baggage reduction
- Ancillary revenue performance across airport touchpoints
- Identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies across the airport network, ensuring initiatives translate into measurable performance outcomes.
- Project Leadership & Governance
- Establish and maintain the cadence, structure, and governance model for all airport-related transformation projects.
- Hold project owners accountable for timely delivery through clear timelines, milestone tracking, and escalation where necessary.
- Maintain a centralized project register and provide regular updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and impacts to senior leadership.
- Facilitate cross-functional alignment between Airports, Ground Handling, In-Flight, Network, Technology, Safety, Finance, and Commercial teams.
- Airport Start-Ups, Close-Downs & Operational Changes
- Lead planning, readiness, and execution for new station start-ups, ensuring all workstreams deliver to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Manage airport close-downs and operational pauses, ensuring transitions are well-planned, risk-managed, and customer-focused.
- Oversee risk identification, mitigation strategies, and communication for all airport lifecycle projects.
- Data, Analytics & Insight
- Develop and maintain performance dashboards, analytical tools, and reporting mechanisms that support operational decision-making.
- Analyse trends, drivers, and root causes to inform targeted improvement strategies.
- Partner with Digital teams to ensure data quality, accuracy, and accessibility across all reporting platforms.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure clarity of ownership and seamless execution of airport initiatives.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and outcomes effectively to senior leadership and frontline stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops, process reviews, and performance improvement sessions across the network.
- Continuous Improvement
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement across all airport operations.
- Introduce standardized project management tools, frameworks, and best practices to enhance delivery consistency.
- Support innovation in customer experience, operational resilience, and process optimization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Role:
The preferred candidate should exemplify Flair's core values: honesty, efficiency, accountability, and respect, while demonstrating success in previous roles. Additionally, we are seeking individuals who possess:
- Education:
- Post-secondary education in Business, Aviation Management, Operations, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field is required.
- Professional certifications in Lean Six Sigma, Project Management (PMP), Change Management, or Analytics are strong assets.
- Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) – ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in aviation operations, operational excellence, transformation, or a related operational field.
- Proven experience leading large-scale, cross-functional transformation projects within complex or regulated environments.
- Demonstrated success improving key operational metrics, including on-time performance, baggage performance, customer experience scores, and/or ancillary revenue outcomes.
- Experience working closely with airport authorities, ground handling providers, and internal operational teams to drive performance improvements.
- Hands-on experience developing and applying governance frameworks, project structures, and performance management systems.
- Experience supporting or leading airport start-ups, closures, ORAT projects, operational transitions, or major change initiatives.
- Strong background using operational KPIs, data analytics, and trend analysis to diagnose issues and guide decision-making
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate business priorities into clear and actionable operational plans.
- Advanced project and program management skills, including prioritization, sequencing, risk management, and structured delivery.
- Exceptional analytical capability with the ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, determine root causes, and recommend targeted improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional execution and maintain accountability across multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency in structured risk identification, mitigation planning, and escalation management.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, effective with frontline teams, senior leaders, and external partners.
- Strong facilitation skills to lead workshops, process reviews, and performance improvement sessions.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, fast-paced environments while managing competing priorities.
- High level of professional judgment, discretion, and resilience in dynamic operational situations.
- Comfortable leveraging dashboards, KPIs, and analytics to inform decision-making and monitor performance.
- Requirements:
- Clear criminal record check and satisfactory employment references.
