About the role

We are currently seeking a Junior Distribution Engineer to join our team. This is a non-union position based in Sudbury, Ontario.
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, you will play a critical role in the development, research and recommendation of distribution design and construction standards, as well as distribution equipment specifications.
As part of our Engineering team, you will:

Provide engineering expertise and coordinate utility construction projects.

Conduct technical studies including fault level analysis, load forecasting and power quality assessments to optimize system performance.

Analyze outage data and system loading to improve reliability across the electrical distribution network.

Support the integration of distributed energy resources, including Connection Impact Assessments and interconnection coordination.

Assist in the design, commissioning, and programming of automated devices and protective relays.

Maintain and update system models and equipment databases using engineering software.

Prepare technical reports and recommendations for regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications:

A four-year University degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent by Professional Engineers Ontario.

Eligible or working towards a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.

A valid Ontario Class G driver’s license is required.

One to three years of experience working with utility distribution systems is considered an asset.
