About the role

TallSky Consulting is proud to partner with our client, Sol, to recruit a Technical Sales Support Specialist for their growing Victoria, BC team. Are you an experienced Technical Sales Support Specialist, Applications Specialist, Field Service Specialist, Sales Engineer, or another customer-facing technical professional looking for your next opportunity?

Do you enjoy helping customers find the right solution rather than simply solving problems after the sale? Would you excel at supporting a sales team with technical expertise while building strong customer relationships? If you thrive in a role where no two days are the same and you can combine technical expertise with exceptional communication skills, this may be the opportunity you’ve been looking for!

Sol is the leading solar lighting brand in North America, with more than 40,000 solar street lights installed across the United States and over 160,000 globally. As part of an innovative international organization headquartered in France, Sol designs and manufactures sustainable outdoor lighting solutions that help communities, municipalities, and businesses build more resilient infrastructure.

Why you will love this role

A role where technology meets customer impact: Combine your technical knowledge with your passion for customer service by supporting customers and installer partners throughout the project lifecycle, from initial technical discussions and product selection through installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing support. Variety and opportunity to make a difference: As part of a small, collaborative team, you will wear multiple hats, work closely with Sales and Engineering, and contribute ideas and improvements that directly impact customer success. A global company with a local feel: Work closely with colleagues in Victoria and the company’s head office in France while being part of an innovative organization with a strong reputation in the solar lighting industry. Travel and hands-on experience: Travel throughout North America approximately four to six times per year to support customer meetings, installations, troubleshooting, and technical projects. There may also be opportunities for occasional travel to France for training and collaboration! Compensation and benefits that recognize your contribution: Earn a competitive salary of $60,000 to $70,000, commensurate with skills and relevant experience, plus the opportunity to earn an annual performance bonus. (For candidates who bring exceptional experience and qualifications, Sol is open to discussing a compensation package that reflects the value they bring to the organization.) A workplace designed for balance and growth: Enjoy a hybrid work environment, excellent benefits, professional development opportunities, and a welcoming office environment in Vic West with free parking, secure bike storage, easy access to transit and the Galloping Goose Trail, complimentary refreshments, and great colleagues.

What you will do each day

Partner with the Sales team to provide technical expertise throughout the sales process, including product selection, application guidance, system configuration, technical feasibility, and customer consultation. Support Business Development Managers by participating in customer conversations, answering technical questions, and helping customers choose the right solution. Provide technical support and guidance to customers, contractors, and installer partners before, during, and after installation to help ensure successful project delivery. Troubleshoot product issues remotely and on-site, investigate root causes, and coordinate solutions with internal teams. Travel to customer sites throughout North America to support installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical projects. Build strong relationships with customers and installer partners by providing responsive, knowledgeable, and practical support. Assist with RFQs, technical documentation, installation resources, and customer support materials. Collaborate with Engineering and Product Development teams to share customer insights and support continuous product improvement.
