Opportunity
The Derivatives Operations team at AIMCo is seeking a Derivatives Specialist to provide critical operational support across a wide range of OTC and cleared derivative products. This role is central to ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and control of day to day trade processing, confirmations, reconciliations, and settlements.
As a Derivatives Specialist, you will contribute to the effective execution of the daily workflows that support the operations team. You will bring deep technical knowledge of derivatives operations, sound judgment under pressure, and a proactive approach to resolving exceptions.
This opportunity is well suited for a professional with proven expertise in derivatives lifecycle management who thrives on precision, independence, and problem solving in a fast paced environment. Success in this role will be measured consistency and accuracy in the execution of daily processes, proactive issue resolution, and contributions to process improvements.
NOTE: This is a 12mth Fixed term position
Responsibilities Include:
Trade Capture & Confirmation
- Accurately capture, affirm, and confirm OTC and cleared derivative trades using industry platforms such as MarkitWire and Trade Manager.
- Ensure legal and economic terms of transactions are verified and aligned with ISDA documentation.
Settlement Oversight
- Monitor, validate, and process derivative cashflows including resets, interest, and performance payouts.
- Investigate and resolve settlement discrepancies in coordination with counterparties.
Reconciliation & Exception Management
- Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of positions in TriResolve.
- Take ownership of trade breaks, cashflow discrepancies, and ensure timely resolutions.
Operational Controls
- Uphold AIMCo’s internal control framework by ensuring all processes meet regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Maintain documentation and audit evidence in the execution of workflows and reconciliations.
Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the first line of support for internal stakeholders and counterparties on issues.
- Provide concise updates to the team on operational stability, escalating risks when necessary.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and document efficiency opportunities and process enhancements that improve accuracy or reduce manual intervention.
- Contribute operational insights to support AIMCo’s ongoing projects and systems development.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Demonstrated experience in derivatives operations with advanced knowledge of OTC and cleared derivatives lifecycle events.
- Proficiency with industry platforms including MarkitWire, Trade Manager, TriResolve, and Calypso.
- Strong understanding of ISDA documentation and ability to interpret contractual terms accurately.
- Proven track record of resolving trade and cashflow discrepancies efficiently and independently.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness under multiple deadlines.
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills with the persistence to uncover root causes.
- Clear communicator who can collaborate effectively with front office, legal, counterparties, and custodians.
