The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a Manager, Information Technology Procurement to join Procurement Shared Services in Yellowknife.

If you're an experienced procurement professional with a background in information technology and leadership, this is an opportunity to oversee complex, high-value procurements that support technology across government. You'll help shape procurement strategies, negotiate major agreements, and ensure public investments in technology deliver long-term value while meeting the highest standards of fairness, transparency, and accountability.

About the Role

As the GNWT's lead for IT procurement, you'll work closely with departments, technical experts, legal counsel, vendors, and stakeholders to manage the full procurement lifecycle for software, hardware, enterprise systems, and technology services. You'll also lead a specialized procurement team while developing policies, standards, and contract frameworks that support effective technology procurement across government.

Key Responsibilities

Lead complex, high-value procurement initiatives for software, hardware, and enterprise technology projects Develop procurement strategies, negotiate contracts, and oversee vendor and contract management Provide expert advice on IT procurement policies, legislation, and public sector best practices Collaborate with departments, technical experts, and stakeholders to deliver effective procurement solutions Lead, mentor, and support the Information Technology Procurement team Develop and improve procurement policies, procedures, templates, and standards for IT acquisitions

Qualifications Required

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by: A post-secondary degree in Procurement Five (5) years of related experience, including one (1) year in a supervisory role

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered, including: A Master's degree in Procurement or a related procurement field with three (3) years of related experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience Relevant experience includes public sector procurement, IT procurement, contract negotiation, procurement lifecycle management, vendor and stakeholder management, strategic sourcing, risk management, and team leadership. Relevant fields of study include Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Purchasing, Business Administration (procurement or operations), and Commerce with a supply chain or procurement focus.
