Location: Frisco, Colorado

Copper Mountain Resort is a vacation destination located 75 miles west of Denver, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Three vibrant, pedestrian-friendly village areas host lodging, retail outlets, restaurants, bars, and family activities. During the winter months, Copper's world-class terrain offers skiing and riding for all ages and abilities. Each summer, the mountain transforms into a playground for hikers, mountain bikers, and anyone seeking a genuine Colorado experience. Copper Mountain Resort is also home to Woodward Copper action-sports camps, programs, and training facility.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $18.00 to $19.80+, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
  • Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.

Job Summary Works primarily under the supervision of the Terrain Park Manager, Hand Crew Supervisor, and Hand Crew Leads. Performs a variety of tasks in a utility role, rotating through assignments as directed by the Supervisor. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining terrain features in the terrain parks and other designated areas on a scheduled cycle. Serves as a guest-facing representative, promoting safety awareness, freestyle terrain etiquette, crowd supervision, and positive guest relations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for opening and closing the Terrain Parks daily in accordance with the parameters established by the Manager.
  • Responsible for continued maintenance, raking and shoveling of every feature in Terrain Park.
  • Installing and maintaining park signage, closures, trail markings, fencing, wind blades, banners etc.
  • Responsible for daily placement of branding with drill and if needed event banners.
  • Responsible for assisting in the installation of Terrain Park Features.
  • Responsible for riding the parks and being a presence on snow, rain or shine and acting as host.
  • Responsible for assisting in any manner with photo shoots, events, contests etc. within the terrain parks or any other area.
  • Responsible for understanding that job hours may vary and run long with a focus on weekends, holidays and events.
  • Responsible for implementation and adherence to all risk management, health, and safety protocols.
  • Responsible for educating staff and guests on all safety items set forth by Copper Mountain, Smart Style, and the Responsibility Code
  • Help with feature ideas, design input, and give feedback on how the parks are performing.

Basic Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a cold alpine environment on uneven terrain for long periods of time.
  • Must have a valid US Driver’s license.
  • Must be able to communicate with immediate supervisor—oral and written.
  • Must be able to follow all policies as described in the employee handbook.
  • Must be able to ski/ride with tools or equipment.
  • Required to use hand tools such as rakes, shovels, drills, etc.
  • Must be able to be to work on-time.

Preferred Experience And Special Skills

  • Must have friendly, outgoing personality with commitment to always provide the best experience for the guests.
  • Must be cool headed and able to receive criticism from guests.
  • Must be a hard-working team player and a self-starter able to take initiative.
  • Must have strong skiing or snowboarding skills and have knowledge of freestyle skiing/riding.
  • Any event/contest experiences an asset.
  • Any First Aid/CPR certification an asset.

Copper Mountain Resort is The Athlete's Mountain. Located in Summit County, Colorado, about 75 miles (121 km) west of Denver on Interstate 70, the resort opened in late 1971. Iit was owned and operated by Intrawest until Dec. 2009, when operations were transferred to Powdr Adventure Lifestyle Co.

The ski area features beginner slopes on the western side of the mountain, intermediate slopes in the center, and expert terrain on the eastern side. Advanced "double black diamond"​ slopes are located on the two peaks above 12,000 feet (Copper and Union Peaks), including four expert-only bowls: Copper Bowl, Union Bowl, Spaulding Bowl, and Resolution Bowl. Copper Mountain Ski Resort has 2,465 acres of in-bounds terrain under lease from the United States Forest Service, White River National Forest, Dillon Ranger District.
