Position Description
Title: Packer
Department: Operations
Immediate Supervisor: Plant Supervisory Staff
Status: Hourly
Position Purpose: Packs boxes and prepares product for shipment
Principle Accountabilities
- Setup the film and packaging equipment.
- Assist operators, packers and/or lead hands with change overs, blade changes, emptying cores, stamping boxes, changing papers, changing end rolls.
- Work as a team with operator and/or lead hands to ensure machine outputs meet production schedule, safety, maximum efficiency, and quality standards.
- Support other coworkers with tasks if needed, including, but not limited to cleaning, stacking boxes, troubleshooting
- Removes finished products from the machine, places product labels, packs item in bags and cartons, and places finished product in proper location as per specifications.
- Performs advanced quality checks and effectively communicates with operator and supervisor to ensure that finished products are made to required quality specifications.
- Aids in the proper and effective operation of the machinery.
- Willing to assist in other areas of the plant, including to cover lunches and breaks as required.
- Performs all work in a safety-first mentality and with utilization of IPS lean manufacturing skills.
- Related tasks as requested by supervisor
Essential Skills And Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to read work instructions and machine setup manuals
- Technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Intermediate math skills and English written communication skills necessary.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time required
- Ability to work in space limited work area on continuous basis.
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis
