- Classroom Management : The ability to create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behaviour and classroom dynamics;
- Facilitation and Engagement : The ability to capture and maintain students' interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning;
- Assessment and Coaching : The ability to utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies;
- Collaboration and Teamwork : The ability to collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives;
- Caring and Inclusiveness : The ability to create and maintain a caring, inclusive and supportive environment for all students;
- Flexibility and Adaptability : The ability to demonstrate flexibility, to adjust and to adapt to changing circumstances.
Teaching assignment may include, but may not be limited to :
- P H _E,_Nuu-chah-nulth language, plus other junior courses like math, science and electives .
The successful candidate will be :
- willing and flexible to teach other subjects and in an outdoor setting as required;
- be physically capable to perform the duties of the position.
- experience teaching Nuu-chah-nulth language.
Essential Qualifications :
- Valid BC Certification with the TRB, with qualifications and experience at the secondary level with a major in Science and/or Math and training and/or experience in current methodologies and strategies applicable to high school Science or Math. Recent experience teaching BC Curriculum Grades 8 to 12 Math and/or Science
- A lived knowledge of the Nuu-chah-nulth Language & Culture, and experience teaching in Nuu-chah-nulth. Language fluency certificate.
